Matches:
1.)Willie Mack defeated Rico Dynamite
2.)Claudio Castagnolo defeated Nick Madrid
3.)NWA Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce defeated Scorpio Sky to retain the title
Angle Developments:
1.Claudio Castagnoli comes out to be the special commentator for the first match of the evening. Willie Mack won the opening squash match following a sit down power bomb. On commentary, Claudio wants to see what Mack would be able to do with him in the ring. After the match, Claudio enters the ring and decides to not shake hands with Mack. Claudio says it’s not worth his time. No respect for Mack.
2.Backstage, the NWA Heritage Tag Team Champions the RockNES Monsters are interviewed. They are Johnny Goodtime and Johnny Yuma. Yuma says they are the best around and the titles prove that. Goodtime doesn’t understand why people say they are weird. They just like to have fun and they believe they will be the NWA World Tag Team Champions.
3.Claudio competed in a squash match against Nick Madrid. Claudio won the bout after focing Madrid to submit to a hold that saw Madrid’s leg wrapped around Claudio’s neck and he pulled Madrid’s head towards his own head.
4.Backstage, Los Luchas cut a promo. They speak in Spanish. So, I have no idea what they are exactly saying. I’m assuming that they are coming for the RockNES Monsters and the Heritage Tag Team Championships.
5.It looks like the main event is going to get plenty of time this week. Pearce starts the bout off working on Sky until he is met with a head scissors take down from the apron. Pearce bails to the floor after his forehead is bitten. Sky avoids a splash in the corner and begins to work on Pearce’s left arm with several knee drops. Sky has had control of the contest primarily focusing on the champs left arm. Pearce kicks the referee into the ropes and Sky is crotched on the top rope as a result. Pearce hits a running dropkick in the corner and taunts the fans. Sky hammers away on Peace with right hands in the corner until he is dropped face first into the top turnbuckle. Pearce locks in the camel clutch, sending a message to the Sheik. Sky doesn’t give up and Pearce jumps down onto his back. Pearce went back to the hold. Sky gets his knees up to low blow Pearce on a splash attempt. Sky with two splashes in the corner and heads to the top rope. Sky hits a frog splash but Pearce kicks out before three. Pearce tries to steal a win with his feet on the ropes but the referee saw him. Sky has an inside cradle but Pearce kicks out. Sky hits a missile dropkick but Pearce kicks out at two on the cover attempt. Sky gets a two count after a flying knee to the champs face. Sky plants Pearce with a tornado DDT but Pearce gets his foot on the bottom rope! Pearce low blows Sky while the referee is out of position and wins the match after a pile driver. That was a good match. They used Sky’s high flying moves well and Pearce plays the role of a sneaky heel to perfection. Nice job by both men involved. After the match, Pearce attacks Sky. Sky begins to fight back when Rocky Romero runs out to attack Sky. Joey Ryan and Claudio Casatagnoli get involved. Willie Mack arrives and stands in the ring with Ryan and Sky.
6.Next week, the Natural Selection will be in action. Shelly Martinez competes in singles action and the NWA Heritage Tag Team Championships will be on the line when the RockNES Monsters defend against the Los Luchas.
Final Thoughts:
It was a better episode compared to last weeks show, in my opinion. The fact that Claudio is in this promotion is a positive thing in itself. The main event was the obviously the best match and the best out of the bunch so far. Pearce is their best option as champion and I’m not sure there is a good enough babyface to dethrone him. After a few more weeks it should be clearer to see the direction they are going in. This weeks show gets a thumbs up from me.
