WWF Superstars 10/8/1994

Written by: Bob Colling

World Wrestling Federation presents Superstars
Date:
10/8/1994
From: Green Bay, WI

Matches:
1.)Bam-Bam Bigelow defeated Duke Droese
2.)Davey Boy Smith defeated Ben Jordan
3.)Jeff Jarrett defeated Billy Joe Eaton
4.)The Headshrinkers defeated Barry Horowitz & Ron Higgins
5.)King Kong Bundy defeated Mitch Bishop

Angle Developments/Notes:
1. Droese starts the match delivering several right hands and gets his boot up before delivering a clothesline. Droese punches Bigelow a few more times and yanks down on Bigelow’s arm. Bigelow reverses the move by dumping Droese to the floor and knee lifts Droese off the apron back to the floor. Bigelow continues to work over Droese with headbutts. Bigelow takes Duke over with a snap suplex but can’t keep the trash man down. Bigelow continues to beat Droese down with several shoulder blocks but Droese catches Bigelow with a powerslam for a near win. Droese hits a leg drop but DiBiase gets on the apron to distract Droese! Bigelow misses a splash in the corner and Droese continues to hammer away on Bigelow. Bigelow avoids Droese in the corner and rolls Droese up for the win. (*1/2. Well, that was slow and uninteresting.)

2. The WWF World Tag Team Champions are back with the Heartbreak Hotel. Their guest this week is former WWF World Champion, Bob Backlund. Bob wants to be known as Mr. Backlund and he resents the term “former champion.” Backlund doesn’t believe that a towel being thrown into the ring is a way to win the championship. Backlund doesn’t believe that Diesel and Michaels are in his league. Backlund issues a challenge knows he is the WWF World Champion and he has been waiting ten years. He wants Bret Hart to wrestle him for the gold again. Backlund talks about July 6th, 1994 and not falling down to other people’s level. Bob says that Bret Hart can give him the championship or they can wait and fight in the ring for it.

3. This is King Kong Bundy’s return to the WWF and he is associated with Ted DiBiase.

4. Doink appears on the big screen and asks if Jerry Lawler would want to wrestle him right now. Doink tells Lawler he could play a prank on him right now and he wouldn’t be able to stop it. Dink appears from behind with a pie. Dink puts the pie on Lawler’s seat and Lawler sits down right on the pie.

Final Thoughts:
A bad episode of Superstars this week. The feature match didn’t do anything for me and Backlund’s interview wasn’t good. Bob seemed to have been struggling with the promo near the end and you can see Michaels having fun at his expense for his stumbling a little bit. I’m not sure why Bundy is back in the New Generation of the WWF. Lastly, the Doink/Lawler feud is a waste of Jerry Lawler. The Doink character has got to go.

Thanks for reading.
