Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Tonight, we will find out the main event for the Royal Rumble happening next month. Bobby Heenan introduces Jerry “The King” Lawler making his debut for the company on commentary. Lawler is here for everyone to see the best wrestling has to offer.
2.) Just a fun fact here, but John Rickner would be better known as Balls Mahoney in ECW.
3.) After Bigelow’s match, Doink the Clown appeared with his pail and acted as if he was going to use it on Bigelow, but he didn’t.
4.) Mean Gene conducted an interview with the WWF World Champion Bret Hart. Gene says that Hart will be defending the championship at the Royal Rumble against Razor Ramon. In the meantime, Hart will defend against Ric Flair on house shows. As Hart rips on Flair and Ramon, Bobby Heenan comes over to confront Hitman. Heenan says that come Royal Rumble, Hart won’t even be WWF World Champion. Hart tells Heenan that Ramon doesn’t have the ability to beat him at the Royal Rumble. Bobby proceeds to introduce the former champion Ric Flair. Flair comes out and wastes no time telling Hart that he is close to recapturing the WWF World Championship. Flair promises Hitman that there isn’t an arena that isn’t ready to have his name on the marquee proclaiming him as the champion for a third time. Flair tells being the man and staying the man are two different things. Heenan introduces Razor Ramon as well to confront Hart. Ramon tells Hart that everyone knows that Ramon is the only man who looks good in gold. He believes he will have the gold around his waist. Ramon tosses his toothpick at Hart and Bret attacks Razor. Flair and Ramon jump Hart until Mr. Perfect runs down to make the save. Flair and Ramon bail and run away from the podium.
Final Thoughts:
A fine episode this week with the interview segment being nicely done to setup Hart’s challengers for the next month or two. The fans were completely into it, as well. A simple and effective episode this week.
