From: Corpus Christi, TX
Matches:
1.) The Undertaker defeated Henry Godwinn
2.) Mantaur defeated Gary Scott
3.) The Bushwhackers defeated Reno Riggins & Adam Croom
4.) King Kong Bundy defeated Bill Weaver
5.) Duke Droese defeated the Brooklyn Brawler
6.) The Eli Brothers defeated Butch Long & Jason Ahrndt
Angle Developments/Notes:
1. Godwinn mocks Paul Bearer for not having his urn, which was stolen by Bundy. Taker responds with a few strikes but is met with a running back elbow in the corner. Taker comes off the ropes to hit a leaping clothesline. Taker walks the top rope and jumps down across Godwinn’s arm. Taker follows up with a scoop slam. Henry avoids an elbow drop by Taker. Henry sends Taker over the top to the floor with a clothesline. Henry rams Taker face first into the top turnbuckle to keep control of the contest. Godwinn tries to weaken Taker down some more with a bear hug. Henry scoop slams Taker to keep the advantage and drops a few elbows for a two count. Taker big boots Henry and attempts the tombstone, but Henry actually gets out of the hold to drop the Deadman with a clothesline. Taker attempts the choke slam and hits it! Taker with the cover and gets the win. (*. I was actually surprised that Henry got out of the tombstone. In some way, Godwinn was presented as a threat to Taker, at least for a moment. A rather boring match between these two, though.)
2. Shawn Michaels hosts the Heartbreak Hotel with his special guest WWF World Champion Diesel. Well, it’s actually not the champion but instead a cardboard cutout of the champion. Michaels had the cardboard cutout covered with a black sheet. Michaels brags about winning the Rumble and says he needs to find a bodyguard. He is in the market to find someone to watch his back. A little bit of pyro goes off and Michaels pretends to interview the champ. Michaels tells the champ to loosen up, and Lawler loves it. Shawn asks how it felt to see Michaels eliminate twenty nine other wrestlers at the Rumble. Shawn knows that Diesel is terrified about having to wrestle him at Mania. Michaels sends the cutout off the stage and says the champ will not get up at Mania.
Final Thoughts:
Yeah, that was just a boring episode of Superstars. There is interest in the Michaels/Diesel feud, and the Bigelow/LT stuff, but that’s just about it.
Thanks for reading.
