World Wrestling Federation presents RAW
Date:
10/2/1995
From: Grand Rapids, MI

Matches:
1.) Razor Ramon defeated 1-2-3 Kid
2.) Hunter Hearst Helmsley defeated Barry Horowitz
3.) PG-13 defeated Al Brown & Sonny Rogers
4.) Bret Hart defeated Jean Pierre Lafitte

Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Razor starts the match tossing Kid over the top to the floor. Kid avoids Ramon in the corner and delivers several kicks. Kid continues with kicks and nails Ramon with a standing spin kick. Razor catches Kid to hit a fallaway slam for a near fall. Kid comes back with a kick to the face for a two count. Dean Douglas has come out to the aisle way to watch the match. Kid drops Razor with a spinning heel kick for a two count. Kid misses a spinning heel kick and Ramon nails Kid with a clothesline to get the three count. Kid slaps Ramon and wants a rematch. Ramon clotheslines Kid in the corner and follows up with strikes and a hip toss out of the corner. Razor locks in an abdominal stretch. Kid slaps Ramon but continues to be worked over as we go to commercial. During the break, Ramon pinned Kid with a power bomb so this is the third match. Ramon drives Kid to the canvas with a back suplex. Ramon signals for the Razors Edge but decides against it and just wins with an inside cradle to beat Kid three times in one night. After the match, Ramon is trying to talk some sense into Kid who seems to be agreeing. Kid tries to steal a win with a rollup and Ramon smiles at him. Kid is offering to take the Razors Edge but doesn’t do it. They instead shake hands and makeup. (*1/2. Well, that was kind of a bummer. I had thought maybe Kid was going to get some creditability and all of that just went away with the booking they went with here.)

2.) PG-13 are the USWA Tag Team Champions and are two small wannabe white rappers. We hear pre-tape comments from them as they are confident that they will beat the Smoking Gunns for the WWF World Tag Team Champions. They feel like a smaller version of Public Enemy.

3.) Hart and Lafitte trade right hands with Lafitte getting the better of the exchange. Lafitte delivers a clothesline after sending Hart into the corner and follows up with an elbow drop. Lafitte misses a splash ion the corner and falls over the top to the floor. Hart scoop slams Lafitte onto the steel steps! Hart big boots Jean in the corner and leaps off the middle rope to hit a clothesline. Lafitte drops Bret throat first across the top rope and taunts the fans. Lafitte counters a hip toss attempt by dropping Hart with a short arm clothesline. Jean heads to the top rope and hits a flying head butt for a two count. Lafitte jumps onto Hart while he was across the middle rope to keep control of the match. Lafitte splashes Hart in the corner and continues to taunt the fans. Hart nearly wins with an inside cradle but gets ran over by a clothesline. Lafitte plants Hart with a side slam and heads to the top rope but Lafitte misses a leg drop!

They go to the floor where Lafitte sends Hart into the ring steps shoulder first. Jerry Lawler is thrilled on commentary. Hart counters a suplex into the ring but is shoved away. Hart delivers an atomic drop and a clothesline. Hart follows up with a side Russian leg sweep but can’t get a three count. Hart delivers a back breaker and hits a middle rope elbow drop for a near fall. Lafitte plants Hart with a rolling fireman’s carry slam but Hart kicks out before three. Lafitte ducks a wild right hand to hit a back suplex. Lafitte heads to the top rope but Hitman gets up and crotches him on the top. Hart hits a superplex and locks in the Sharpshooter to get the submission victory! (**1/2. A solid main event to end the feud that started over Lafitte stealing a jacket. It seemed like the main focus was Lawler’s reaction to the match rather than the action between the two guys in the ring. Nonetheless, it’s an enjoyable contest.) After the match, Hart ends up attacking Jerry Lawler until Isaac Yankeem comes out and plants Hart with a DDT on the concrete floor! Hart is helped to the backstage area.

4.) Vince McMahon announces in the next several weeks there will be a steel cage match between Bret Hart and Isaac Yankeem on RAW. Next week, a six man tag match will take place. Shawn Michaels, Diesel and the Undertaker square off against Yokozuna, Owen Hart and the British Bulldog.

Final Thoughts:
An average episode this week as the opener bothered me. They essentially wasted any kind of build up for Kid by jobbing him out three times in one show. The main event was okay, but I expected more from Lafitte and Hart, honestly. A big main event next week has my interest.

Thanks for reading.
