Date: 10/9/1995
From: Grand Rapids, MI
Matches:
1.) Davey Boy Smith, Owen Hart & Yokozuna defeated WWF World Champion Diesel, WWF Intercontinental Champion Shawn Michaels & The Undertaker
2.) Fatu defeated Skip
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Michaels and Owen start the match with Michaels taking Hart down to the mat early on. Michaels catapults Hart with his feet and sends Owen to the floor. Smith enters but is taken care of by Shawn. All six men are in the ring brawling with Smith and Owen being sent into Yoko. Diesel and Taker send Yoko to the floor following a double big boot! Yoko is dazed on the floor and hits the ring post! Diesel and Smith are going at it with Diesel hitting a clothesline in the corner. Diesel knocks Smith to the floor where Taker sends Smith back into the ring. Yoko soon tags in but Diesel doesn’t back off and hits a leaping clothesline. Diesel tags in Taker who wrenches the arm and walks the top rope before coming down across Yoko’s arm. Yoko plants Taker with a Samoan Drop! Taker counters a backdrop attempt with a DDT! We see Waylon Mercy watching from the aisle way.
Michaels tags in and comes off the top with a double axe handle to Yoko. Yoko plants Shawn with a forward side slam and tags in Owen. Owen continues to work over the lower back with several stomps. Smith enters the match and double teams Michaels with Owen. Smith press slams Michaels for a two count. Shawn gets choked by Smith and Yoko while Owen gets some shots in. Dean Douglas comes out to take notes on the match. Michaels hip tosses Owen and nearly wins with a backslide. Owen drops Michaels with a clothesline and tags in Yoko. Smith enters to deliver a double head butt for a near fall. Smith drives Shawn to the canvas with a delayed vertical suplex. Owen nails Michaels with a spinning heel kick and nearly gets a three count on the cover attempt. Michaels almost steals a win with a rollup after Owen was arguing with the referee.
Owen heads to the top rope and leaps off but we go to commercial. We see that Owen missed the diving head butt. Smith gets tagged as does Diesel. Diesel hammers away on Smith and hits a side slam. Yoko enters and Diesel takes care of him. Owen hits Diesel from the floor and Smith hits a running power slam but Taker makes the save. Yoko delivers a leg drop and Smith has the cover to get the three count as Taker went back to the apron. After the match, Taker cleans house on the heels until King Mabel enters and sends Taker to the former where both he and Yoko deliver splashes! Yokozuna leg drops Taker and Mabel delivers on as well. Dean Douglas is attacking Shawn Michaels on the floor! Mabel and Yokozuna continue to splash Taker in the ring. Douglas dropped Michaels chest first across the ring steps! (**1/2. A decent match but the aftermath was nicely done as it really made the heels look like forces and put heat on them. A quite effective segment as the heels had lost a lot of momentum and didn’t look like threats to the good guys lately.)
2.) After that match, how do we expect Fatu and Skip to keep my interest? Thus, Fatu countered a top rope hurricanrana by shoving Skip off and hitting a top rope splash for the win.
3.) Backstage, Jim Ross interviews Davey Boy Smith, Jim Cornette and King Mabel. Cornette wants the fans to feel this moment that Smith has pinned Diesel. Cornette puts over Smith as being the guy who will win the championship at In Your House. Smith says he has been denied title shots all his career. Smith is hungry and needs a bone to chew on. He is going to take the championship back to England. King Mabel enters and calls Smith his homie. Mabel brags about taking out the Undertaker and says he is going to bury Taker at In Your House.
Final Thoughts:
Well, the show was mainly the six man tag match and it was a fine match. I can’t com pain about the show as it was a quick watch. A mild thumbs up for RAW this week.
Thanks for reading.
