Rude and Perfect did an excellent job with their offense and to keep interest in the match. It was kind of humorous that Warrior worked the last twenty-seconds of the match. They protected him and allowed him to hit his big spots to send the crowd home happy. Tornado did a good job as a face in peril, too.)

They were dead for all of it.)

War Eagle vs. Dale Wolfe
Date:
January 8th, 1991
From: Chattanooga, TN

War Eagle would be known better as Tatanka. He comes out to music that just doesn’t fit his character, but that’s nitpicking I guess. They run the ropes for some reason to start and Eagle takes Wolfe down with a few arm drags. Wolfe goes to the floor to stall for a few moments. Wolfe ducks a few chops but can’t duck a dropkick. Eagle keeps Wolfe down with an arm bar to maintain control and delivers a leg drop to the left arm. Eagle looks like he’s trying to hyperextend the shoulder of Wolfe but still can’t get a submission. Wolfe cheap shots Eagle in the corner and delivers a few strikes. Wolfe gets control with a chin lock. Eagle breaks free of the hold but Wolfe continues to strike Eagle. Oh boy, Eagle is starting to go on a War Dance and chops Wolfe. Eagle knee lifts Wolfe followed by a chop. Eagle wins the match following a Samoan Drop. (DUD. Wolfe got more offense in than he probably should. War Eagle didn’t connect with the fans and felt a little sloppy throughout. Yet, he’d get a job.)

This kind of dragged on but it’s clear they worked a similar match for WrestleMania. The finish popped the crowd.)

Sid blocks a right hand and decks DiBiase a few times. Sid hits a big splash in the corner. It looked like a Stinger Splash. Sid misses a charging splash in the corner and DiBiase comes off the middle rope with an axe handle. Sid boots DiBiase as he comes off the ropes and Sid plants DiBiase with a power bomb for the win. (**. This may be one of the best Sid matches I’ve ever watched. DiBiase put on a great effort here and hit some moves that I wasn’t expecting Sid to take, honestly. It was a nicely done match and I think Sid working for DiBiase on TV would have made for some good TV, for the time.)

I seem to recall their MSG match when they had a lot of time and they needed to deliver a good main event.)

It’s amazing to me that they had Piper get pinned twice. I’d assume the referee messed up the finish or something? Anyway, this wasn’t all that memorable to me.)

Savage stands on the middle rope taunting Roberts. Roberts motions that he has had enough and that’s it. (NR. That was a bummer. I really don’t know why they’d include matches that were just designed to pop the crowd with a little bit of action. These kind of matches make me feel cheated out of good quality action.)

A decent match between these two, but I can see how this match fizzled on the house shows since they didn’t seem to mesh all that great. I don’t know, Flair just didn’t seem like a serious threat to Hogan here. Hogan, I thought, always did better working with bigger guys.)
