Opening Contest: Sandy Mann vs. Nikos Rikos: Mann tosses a drink into Rikos face but Rikos takes Mann down to the mat to avoid a leapfrog. Rikos delivers several strikes in the corner to keep control on Mann. Mann fights back with a few strikes but is stopped by a backdrop. Rikos clotheslines Mann and avoids a twisting dive attempt off the top rope. Rikos wins the match quickly with a Boston Crab. (1/2*. Well, Rikos seems to be a promising heel for PWS.) After the match, Rikos taunts Diamond Dallas Page saying he wouldn’t last five minutes with him. Naturally, DDP comes out and delivers a diamond cutter.
Second Contest: Sonjay Dutt vs. Mario Bokara: Early on, they start off with some mat wrestling and counters leading to the fans showing appreciation for their skills. Bokara splashes Dutt in the corner after teasing a clean break. Bokara continues with a few chops but misses a splash and Dutt kicks Bokara before hitting a missile dropkick for a near fall. Bokara avoids a tornado DDT hitting a suplex and holds on for a German suplex. Bokara takes Dutt over with a backdrop and tries to get an arm submission, but Dutt reaches the ropes. Dutt superkicks Bokara and plants Bokara with a tornado DDT for a near fall. Dutt knee lifts Bokara in the corner but runs into a dropkick. Dutt nearly wins with a rollup and a backslide. Bokara counters a rollup attempt, but the referee doesn’t realize it’s a pin and takes minute. Dutt superkicks Bokara, but misses another kick. Bokara takes Dutt down to the mat and wins the match with an arm submission. (**. I was not expecting this match to be so short, but it was enjoyable. I would have liked to see these guys wrestle several more minutes. I feel like Dutt didn’t get much of a chance to showcase his move set and the same could be said for Bokara. They could have done so much more here.)
Third Contest: Colt Cabana vs. Brian Myers vs. Bonesaw vs. Homicide: Myers and Bonesaw go to the floor to allow Homicide and Cabana to remain in the ring. Cabana and Homicide show some respect for each other. Homicide rolls to the floor and tosses Bonesaw into the ring as Cabana does the same to Myers. They are atomic dropped into each other and sent into each other in the middle of the ring. Cabana nearly pins Homicide with a rollup. Homicide returns the favor and they argue until Myers and Bonesaw take them out. Myers takes Homicide over with a snap suplex. Bonesaw does the same to Homicide as Myers keeps Cabana on the floor. Homicide tries to fight out of the corner, but continues to be worked over. Bonesaw goes to the floor while Myers hits a back suplex on Homicide. Homicide causes Myers to DDT Bonesaw following a clothesline to Myers. Cabana hits a top rope crossbody on Myers for a two count. Cabana splashes Myers in the corner and clotheslines Bonesaw.
Cabana jabs Myers several times and delivers an elbow strike to both Myers and Bonesaw for a two count as Homicide breaks the pin. Homicide avoids a splash in the corner and missile dropkicks Cabana. Bonesaw stops Homicide with a gut wrench suplex. Bonesaw and Myers battle on the top rope, but Cabana comes over and stops them both. Homicide comes over to hit the Tower of Doom spot. Homicide and Cabana begin to trade right hands and elbow strikes. Cabana nails Homicide with a GTS to send Homicide to the floor. Bonesaw has Cabana on his shoulders, but Myers spears Bonesaw for the win. (**. They didn’t do anything out of the norm but it was a solid overall match, I thought. Homicide was looking old and slow in there, though.)
Fourth Contest: Amazing Red vs. Shynron: Early on, they counter each other with arm drags, leg sweeps and have standoff after stereo dropkick attempts. They shake hands and Shynron thinks about attacking Red from behind. Red sends Shynron to the floor and hits a slingshot crossbody, which Shynron doesn’t catch very well. Red leaps off the top to hit a missile dropkick. Shynron kicks Red from the apron and connects with a slingshot elbow from the apron into the ring for a two count. Shynron almost wins with a sit out hip toss. Shynron delivers several knee drops to keep Red on the mat. Red almost wins with a sunset flip and is met with a clothesline for a two count. Shynron locks in a modified cloverleaf, but Red reaches the ropes. They both miss wild kicks, but Red knocks Shynron down. Red dropkicks Shynron in the corner followed by a tornado DDT for a near fall. Shynron nails Red with a handspring kick on the top rope. Shynron counters a hurricanrana attempt and lands on his feet on a reverse hurricanrana. Shynron almost wins the match with a swinging cutter for a two count. Red stops Shynron on the middle rope trying for a Code Red, but Shynron lands on his feet. Red is able to get a quick rollup and wins the match. (***. A fun match between these two. I’ve wanted to see more of Shynron as he seems to be a really enjoyable high flyer. The crowd enjoyed the match quite a bit as they chanted early and often for it. I’m thinking PWS fans want to make themselves part of the show, though.)
Fifth Contest: Kevin Matthews vs. Devon Moore in a first blood match: Moore attacks Matthews before the bell, but Matthews fights back with strikes and a backdrop to send Moore to the floor. Matthews sends Moore into his manager on the floor. Matthews pummels Moore trying to make him bleed quickly. Moore superkicks Matthews and bites his forehead. Moore taunts the fans as Matthews is worked over on the mat. Moore headbutts Matthews on the groin before hitting a springboard moonsault. Moore gets a steel chair but Matthews counters a slam onto it. Matthews hits a twisting sit out pump handle slam that saw Moore land face first onto the chair. Moore avoids a flatliner and drops Matthews with a cutter. Moore gets a barbed wire 2×4. Matthews tosses Moore into the corner with a suplex. Matthews hits the Ego Driver (powerbomb turned into a double knee backbreaker). Matthews hits a second Ego Driver. Matthews connects with a third Ego Driver and Moore is laid out. Moore hits Matthews with the barbed wire 2×4 on the apron. Matthews has been busted wide open and that’s the end of the match. (*1/2. Well, Matthews did a good blade job, that’s for sure. The finish was really flat though. Matthews mostly dominated the match and to lose the match the way he did didn’t seem to connect with the fans at all. It’s a cheap win for Moore and should allow their feud to continue.)
Sixth Contest: PWS Suicidal Six Way Champion Starman vs. Drunken Swashbuckler vs. Anthony Bowens vs. Bobby Wayward vs. Johnny Howl vs. The Lifeguard: Wayward and Starman start the match with some basic holds on the mat working over each others arm. Starman dropkicks Wayward a few times but gets dumped to the floor. Bowens enters the ring and clotheslines Wayward sending him to the floor. Howl enters and is met with a knee on the apron followed by a rollup for a two count. Bowens almost wins following a heel kick. Lifeguard sends Bowens to the floor. Lifeguard back suplexs Howl followed by a vertical suplex for a two count. Swashbuckler enters the ring to break the pin and arm drags Lifeguard a few times. Swashbuckler head scissors Lifeguard to the floor. Swashbuckler misses a dive hitting the ropes instead and he’s being funny. Bowens is stopped from diving by Lifeguard, but Starman yanks Lifeguard off the apron. Wayward pulls Bowens to the floor and Howl takes everyone out with a crossbody off the top to the floor.
Wayward hammers away on Bowens a few times, but Bowens hits a Fame-Asser. Bowens stops Howl with a backbreaker and a superkick for a two count. Lifeguard head scissors Howl to the floor and is chopped by Bowens several times. Bowens dropkicks Lifeguard in the corner sending him to the floor. Wayward works over Bowens with strikes and stomps in the corner. Howl splashes both men in opposite corner. Howl dropkicks Bowens off the middle rope, who DDTs Wayward. Lifeguard is slammed by Howl, but Lifeguard head scissors Bowens off the top rope, who lands on Starman. Wayward almost steals the pin on Starman and Lifeguard. Bowens takes Wayward down, but is sent into the corner chest first. Wayward kicks Howl for a near fall. They go to the floor and brawl for a moment. Lifeguard hits a cutter on Swashbuckler. Starman takes Lifeguard down with a slam. Starman goes to Swashbuckler and heads to the top missing a double stomp. Swashbuckler hits the stunner on Starman to win the match and title. (**. It wasn’t an awful match and the constant action was appealing. There aren’t any acts in the match that I found to be all that enjoyable, though. Bowens and Wayward are clearly bigger deals and shouldn’t be in this kind of match, hence why they weren’t part of the finish.)
Seventh Contest: Tommy Dreamer vs. Justin Credible: Credible isn’t looking to be in the best physical condition at this point. This is billed as being Credible’s retirement match. Dreamer wants to shake hands with Credible after a brief chat. They embrace but Credible jabs Dreamer several times. Dreamer fights back with a few strikes. Dreamer drops Credible with an elbow strike to knock Credible to the floor. Dreamer spits a drink into Credible’s eyes. Dreamer hits Credible with a trash can and they brawl into the crowd. Dreamer sends Credible into the guard railing ribs first. Credible sends Dreamer into the bar and smashes Dreamer with a trash can. Dreamer sends Credible into several chairs in the crowd. Credible punches Dreamer over the railing and Dreamer falls down to the floor. They continue to brawl in the crowd. Credible crotches Dreamer on the railing. Dreamer sends Credible into the railing side first. Dreamer rings the bell on Credible’s groin. Dreamer misses a chop and hits the post. Credible wraps Dreamer’s arm around the post. Credible rings the bell on Dreamer’s groin.
Credible stomps on Dreamer in the corner and connects with a sit out powerbomb for a near fall. Dreamer gets up from a sleeper hold but Credible hits a spinning DDT for a near fall. Dreamer drop toe holds Credible onto the chair. Credible drop toe holds Dreamer onto the edge of the chair for a near fall. Dreamer boots the chair into Credible’s face and hits a DDT, but Credible kicks out at two. Dreamer tries for a Death Valley Driver, but Credible wiggles free to hit a superkick and wins the match. On the pin, you can hear Credible thank Dreamer. (*. I feel a little bad for not enjoying this, but I thought it was rather bland and it showed that Credible is not capable of having a match without brawling and relying on the ECW style. They did the usual spots you’d expect. Credible’s retirement didn’t last long, anyway.)
After the match, Dreamer gets a microphone and cuts a promo saying that Chris Candido brought to Paul Heyman’s attention various wrestlers that weren’t happy in WWE. Dreamer reveals that Heyman said Credible wouldn’t make it in ECW. Bill Wiles developed a Justin Credible gimmick, and Heyman paid Wiles to give the character to PJ. Dreamer worked with Credible to make him in ECW. Dreamer notes that Credible’s only flaw was lack of self confidence and just like every other night, Credible gave all that he could. Dreamer says that is the last match between them and leaves the ring. Raven makes his way out as does New Jack. Credible loved being able to entertain the fans every month. Credible makes sure to say professional wrestling.
Eighth Contest: PWS Television Champion Chris Payne vs. Fallah Bahh: Bahh misses a few clotheslines to start and Payne comes back with right hands. Payne boots Bahh in the corner followed by a few dropkicks with the last one coming from the middle rope. Bahh misses a charging attempt and falls through the ropes as Payne was on the apron. Payne gets distracted by Bahh’s manager. Bahh delivers a headbutt and a standing crossbody. Bahh hip tosses Payne out of the corner before hitting a spinning headbutt. Bahh leg drops Payne to counter a sunset flip attempt. Bahh comes off the ropes to deliver a back splash for a two couint. Bahh works over Payne’s neck for a few moments. Payne fights back with several strikes and tries a clothesline, but Bahh doesn’t go down. Bahh delivers a spinning heel kick. Bahh misses a big splash off the ropes. Payne has a cover, but Bahh’s manager gets on the apron and causes a distraction. Bahh hits his manager on accident and Payne delivers a big boot followed by a clothesline, twice. Payne dropkicks Bahh into a corner and delivers a kick. Payne connects with a standing moonsault for a two count. Bahh fights back with a chop and avoids a big boot attempt to hit a swinging side slam for a near fall. Bahh catches Payne coming off the middle rope to hit a Samoan Drop for a near fall. Bahh tries for another one, but misses a sit down splash after Payne countered it. Payne rolls Bahh up for the win. (*. Both of these guys are rather restricted in regard to what they can do in the ring. So, that brings us to having a basic encounter that wasn’t very enjoyable, for the most part.)
Ninth Contest: Scott Steiner vs. Craig Steele: Steiner gets the early advantage working over Steele with several strikes in the corner. Steele shoulder blocks Steiner to the floor. Steiner regains control with strikes in the corner, but Steele gets a few blows in as well. Steele almost wins after a basic shoulder block. Steiner low blows Steele as the referee wasn’t paying attention. Steiner hits a belly to belly suplex for a near fall. Steele gets out of a chin lock, but Steiner hits another exploder suplex. Steiner runs into a double boot in the corner. Steele runs over Steiner with a few clotheslines for a two count. Steele misses a diving headbutt and Steiner hits a Flatliner. Steiner goes for the Steiner Recliner, but they fall over. Steiner regains his footing and wins the match by submission. (DUD. I mean, is this really any kind of a surprise?)
Tenth Contest: Balls Mahoney & CPA vs. Reynolds Brothers (Alex Reynolds & Kyle Reynolds) vs. Delroy & New Jack vs. Monsters Island (Leather & Sprinkles) vs. The Aesthetics Enterprise (Beefcake Charlie & Damian Gibbs) vs. The Heavenly Bodies (Dustin & Justin) vs. The Merry Men In Tights (Adam & Steve): New Jack and Delroy start the match with Beefcake Charlie & Damian Gibbs. Jack says that Brian XL couldn’t show up for some reason. Delroy and Gibbs start the match with Delroy showing his strength advantage. Delroy gets distracted by Charlie and Gibbs hits a standing dropkick followed by right hands. Charlie enters and powerslams Delroy for a two count. Charlie delivers another slam but misses a senton splash. New Jack gets the tag and cleans house on Gibbs and Charlie with strikes. Delroy clotheslines Charlie to the floor and Jack decks Gibbs with a clothesline. Jack scoop slams Gibbs for a two count. Jack gets a steel chair to come off the top and smash Gibbs in the face for a three count.
CPA and Balls Mahoney are next out in this gauntlet match. CPA and Delroy start things off with CPA avoiding clotheslines and knocks Delroy down. Delroy avoids a slam attempt and hits a German suplex. Mahoney enters the ring and wants New Jack, which promptly starts an ECW chant. Mahoney gets control on Jack gouging his eyes and forehead. Jack dumps Mahoney through the ropes to the floor. Mahoney breaks a plastic cup over Jack’s head. Jack and Mahoney brawl on the floor leading to them to both get counted out.
Reynolds Brothers and the Merry Men In Tights are the next two teams to compete in the match. This is going to get a long story short treatment largely because the disc I purchased kept on freezing during this match and it’s probably not worth the headache. Merry Men nearly win following a DDT to Alex Reynolds. Reynolds Brothers get a three count following a Samoan Drop/middle rope neckbreaker combo.
Raven introduces Monsters Islands but its really just Raven talking. Reynolds goes for a suicide dive but gets caught and slammed onto the floor. Reynolds get worked over in opposite corners. Alex gets driven down to the mat with a double backdrop. Reynolds get some offense avoiding them in the corner and hit a double superkick. They get attacked by Sprinkles and that causes a disqualification. The crowd boos that decision and Sprinkles bites Kyle’s face. Alex is driven to the mat with a double powerbomb.
Heavenly Bodies are the final team and they try to pin Alex as soon as they enter, but only manage a two count. Kyle fights the Bodies off with a few strikes but is driven down to the mat with a flapjack. Justin nearly wins with a spinning sit down powerbomb. Dustin hits a somersault dive off the apron to take Kyle out on the floor. Alex hits a top rope crossbody, but Justin rolls through for a two count. Alex superkicks Justin and gets met with a clothesline from Dustin. Justin leaps of the top but gets knees to the midsection. Kyle holds Dustin from the floor and Alex pins Justin with a rollup. (DUD. This whole segment fell flat and none of it was good.)
Main Event: PWS Heavyweight Champion Habib The Guy From The Car Wash vs. Dan Maff vs. Matt Macintosh in a tables, ladders and chairs match: Nobody chants for Macintosh while the other two guys get some love from the crowd. Habib goes to the floor quickly to bring a ladder into the match. Habib thinks he can just set it up and get the championship, but the belt isn’t up there. Maff decks Macintosh with a chop and grabs Habib by the throat before tossing the champ across the ring. Maff again sends Habib across the ring and chops Macintosh. Habib gets thrown across again to the apron. Macintosh is met with another chop as he can’t get any momentum in his favor. Maff delivers a few face washes to Macintosh in the corner. Habib gets met with a forearm strike by Maff. Habib gets splashed onto Macintosh while on Maff’s shoulders. Maff has Habib set for the Burning Hammer, but Macintosh low blows Maff from behind.
Macintosh tries to slam Habib, but is met with a spinning heel kick instead. Habib heads to the top rope but is caught by Maff. Maff is superkicked by Macintosh twice and nearly pinned by Habib after a Code Red. Macintosh gets speared by Habib after trying to hit Maff with a boot. Maff plants Habib with a sit down powerbomb for a near fall. Macintosh sends Maff to the apron following a kick to the face. Macintosh hits a handspring kick on Habib and takes Maff out with a suicide dive to the floor. Macintosh plants Habib with a stunner and a somersault dive to take out Maff on the floor! Macintosh slams a ladder onto Maff on the floor. Habib takes Macintosh out with a slingshot crossbody on the floor.
Habib brings a door into the ring that says “couldn’t afford a table” on it. Maff dumps Habib to the floor and grabs Macintosh. Macintosh backdrops Maff through the door in the corner. Macintosh gets a piece of wood, which isn’t a table and lays it over the apron and railing. Habib puts Macintosh on the wood and goes to the top of the ladder on the floor hitting a swanton bomb through the wood. Habib drives Maff down with a double knee strike for a two count. Habib delivers a few chair shots to Maff’s head to drop him to the mat. Habib runs into the corner to hit Maff again with the chair. Habib puts the ladder in front of Maff’s groin and delivers a chair shot to the ladder going into Maff’s groin! Habib climbs to the top hitting a double knee strike for another near fall. Macintosh knocks Habib off the top rope with a chair shot.
Macintosh puts Habib on the top turnbuckle but Maff comes over and stops them. Maff proceeds to hit a double Burning Hammer! Maff brings three ladders into the match. Maff has two standing ladders with the third one laid between them. Macintosh stops Maff on the top rope and ties Maff’s left arm to the top turnbuckle. Well, Macintosh tried to do that at least. Macintosh couldn’t tie the zip ties and hits Maff with a chair instead. Macintosh has Habib on the ladder and Habib gets knocked off with a low blow. Macintosh hits a leg drop followed by a Cradle Shock to pin Habib and wins the championship. (**1/2. I felt like the match was rushed a little bit and wasn’t able to fully develop into a good TLC match. I find it hilarious that PWS put the title on the one guy that nobody in the venue wanted to win. I’m not sure if it was because Macintosh was a heel or because nobody actually liked him. There were a few good spots, but the finish was lackluster and I was rather disappointed by the match.)
Final Thoughts:
There were only two matches that were any good, but they aren’t must see. There’s several matches on this show that don’t need to be seen. Thus, I can’t possibly give this a positive recommendation.
