2.) WCW United States Champion Steve Austin defeated Bobby Walker
3.) Diamond Dallas Page defeated Tom Zenk
4.) Cactus Jack & Maxx Payne defeated Harlem Heat
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Tony Schiavone interviewed the WCW Tag Team Champions Nasty Boys and Missy Hyatt after their victory. They will be wrestling Cactus Jack and Maxx Payne at the Clash. Sags doesn’t understand why they want to wrestle them and thinks it’s because they are nuts. Knobbs chimes in and says Jack and Payne are ugly. Knobbs believes that 1994 is their year.
2.) Tony Schiavone interviewed WCW United States Champion Steve Austin after his victory. Col. Robert Parker will be wrestling Brian Pillman in a chicken suit match. Austin says that Pillman has done nothing but run his mouth since they won the tag titles. Austin considers Pillman to be nothing more than an anchor. Austin says that Pillman will never get a title shot. Parker says a lot of famous people are wishing him well. Parker would rather be buried than embarrassed by wearing a chicken suit. Parker promises he’ll not be put in a chicken suit.
3.) Page works over Zenk with strikes in the corner followed by an elbow strike. Page delivers a shoulder ram in the corner to drop Zenk. Zenk fights back with a few strikes, but a knee lift stops him. Zenk nearly wins with a rollup and dropkicks Page to the floor. Zenk gets wrist control on Page, but Page counters quickly and puts a hammerlock on Zenk. Zenk counters on the mat and keeps control on Page. Zenk rolls Page over and nearly wins the match. Zenk continues to have arm control on Page. Page takes Zenk down and tries for a cover, but only manages a two count. Zenk takes Page down with a snapmare. DDP works over Zenk with a shoulder ram and headlock on the mat. Page clotheslines Zenk to counter a hip toss. Page misses a splash in the corner. Zenk atomic drops Page and delivers a few strikes. Page blocks a backdrop and hits a piledriver for the win. Page did have a handful of tights. (*. I’m surprised that Page didn’t have much difficultly with Zenk here. Zenk isn’t doing much of anything, but Page appears to be on the rise in WCW.)
4.) Tony Schiavone interviews Diamond Dallas Page. Page puts over Zenk, but says that Zenk made a mistake putting his name in the fish bowl. Page wants to wrestle Flair, Sting and Steamboat. Page is looking to be bad to the bone. He has a different Diamond Doll with him, too.
5.) Payne and Ray kickoff the tag main event. Ray delivers a few right hands and Payne doesn’t budge. Payne works over Ray with right hands and ducks a clothesline to shoulder block Ray. Payne scoop slams Ray and comes off the ropes to deliver a stomp. Payne rams Ray into Jack’s boot in the corner. Jack continues with a few headbutts in the corner. Jack takes Ray over with a snap suplex leading to a near fall. Jack tosses Ray to the floor. Payne backdrops Jack onto Ray on the floor. Payne decks Booker with a clothesline. Jack boots Booker from the apron and Ray gets control with strikes in the corner. Booker beats on Jack but runs into a boot in the corner. Jack clotheslines Booker over the top to the floor. Ray comes off the apron to strike Jack on the floor. Ray clotheslines Jack on the floor. Booker keeps Jack on the mat with a headlock. Jack fights out with elbow strikes, but Booker takes Jack back down to the mat. Ray tries to get a cover after a forearm shot managing a two count. Jack runs into an elbow by Ray in the corner. Booker leaps off the top and Jack delivers a shot followed by a DDT managing a two count.Payne gets the hot tag and cleans house with strikes. Booker nails Jack with a forearm strike. Payne dumps Ray over the top to the floor and gets a rollup on Booker for the win. After the match, the Nasty Boys attack Payne and Jack with a chair. They beat on Payne and roll him into the ring. Payne fights back with a double clothesline. Jack sends a chair into the ring and Payne whacks Sags over the back. Jack clotheslines Knobbs over the top to the floor. (1/2*. A lifeless crowd and a sloppy match. Payne is honestly an embarrassment in the ring. Harlem Heat losing to Payne is just baffling. Cactus Jack shouldn’t be saddled in a poor tag team.)
6.) Tony Schiavone interviews Cactus Jack and Maxx Payne. Payne says they are as nasty as they want to be. Jack chimes in and asks the Nasty Boys if they know what they got themselves into. Jack has broken his resolution, which was forgiving and forgetting.
Final Thoughts:
A lackluster episode as the real focus was on the Clash that was coming up in less than a week.
Thanks for reading.
