World Wrestling Federation presents Superstars
Date: 11/4/1995
From: Regina, Saskatchewan
Matches:
1.) Hunter Hearst Helmsley defeated Mike Legacy
2.) Henry Godwinn defeated Otis Apollo
3.) Bam-Bam Bigelow defeated Scott D’Amore
4.) King Mabel defeated Tim McNeany
5.) Bret Hart defeated Psycho Sid
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Following his victory, Helmsley walks up the aisle, but Henry Godwinn is making his way out for his match. Godwinn has his slop bucket and is scaring Helmsley. Several officials come down to ringside to prevent Godwinn from doing so. Helmsley sprayed his cologne towards Gowinn before leaving the area.
2.) Following his victory, Henry Godwinn is interviewed by Jim Ross. Godwinn promises to beat Helmsley next time he sees Helmsley and will slop him.
3.) Backstage, Rad Radford is working out with Skip yelling at him. Skip finds candy hidden in Radford’s tights as Rad was doing some sit-ups.
4.) In the ring, Jerry Lawler is in the ring and introduces Goldust for an interview. Lawler believes that Goldust’s name will be seen all over the world. Lawler says all the WWF superstars were looking at Goldust in awe because he’s what a star looks like. Goldust quotes House of Wax. Goldust cuts a promo on Bam-Bam Bigelow saying that Bigelow has not felt the pain. Bigelow enters the ring to confront Goldust. Bigelow doesn’t know who Goldust is or what he is. Bigelow hopes that Gorilla Monsoon is listening and challenges Goldust to a match at any place and any time. Goldust tells Bigelow to exit, please. Bigelow looks confused as the segment ends.
5.) Paul Bearer cut a pre-tape promo on King Mabel about Mabel being proud for what he did to the Undertaker and promises that Mabel will pay.
6.) Next week, the WWF Tag Team Champions Smoking Gunns will wrestle WWF Intercontinental Champion Razor Ramon and 1-2-3 Kid.
7.) For the main event, Sid has the Million Dollar Corporation with him while Bret Hart has members from the Roughriders CFL team.
8.) Sid shoves Hart to the mat to start the contest. Sid shoves Hart into the corner to show his size advantage. Sid backs Hart into the corner and delivers a few strikes to the midsection. Sid delivers a big boot in the corner. Sid gets a running start and misses a big boot in the corner. Hart hammers away on Sid followed by a headbutt. Hart clotheslines Sid over the top to the floor. Sid is picked up by the football players and rolled into the ring. Hart atomic drops Sid to the floor and Sid is sent back into the ring. Hart tries to lock in the Sharpshooter, but Sid blocks it and Hart settles for a headbutt to the midsection. Hart is tripped by DiBiase at ringside allowing Sid to hit a leg drop. Sid works over Hart with strikes in the corner followed by a boot to the midsection. Sid sends Hart hard back first into the corner. Sid taunts the football players before delivering a stomp to Hart’s back. Sid locks in a bearhug, but Hart quickly fights out with an eye rake. Sid nails Hart with a clothesline to stomp his momentum. Sid keeps a chin lock on Hart after a snapmare. Skip is taunting one of the football players and is met with a forearm smash. Sid continues with a forearm strike to keep Hart on the mat. Sid sends Hart to the floor where the Corporation attacks Hart before sending Bret back into the ring. Sid continues to taunt the football players. Hart continues to be beaten up while the referee is distracted. We go to commercial after DiBiase delivered a strike to Hart.
Sid has kept control choking Hart in the corner. Hart kicks Sid in the corner and hits a middle rope clothesline. Hart hammers away on Sid against the ropes. Hart hits a side Russian leg sweep followed by a forearm drop. Hart gets an inside cradle on Sid for a two count. Sid catches Hart coming off the ropes, but Hart manages to land on top for a two count. Hart is sent to floor and that leads to a massive brawl between the Corporation and football players. Glenn Kulka distracts Sid on the apron allowing Bret to get a rollup and wins the match. (**. The match is really average at best since Sid controlled the majority of it and Hart gets an assisted fluke victory. Glenn Kulka came across like a potential star in pro wrestling. He’s in great shape and has the look to be successful. I never would have guessed that the main takeaway here would be a football player.) After the match, you would of thought Bret won the WWF World Championship with the celebration.
9.) Backstage, Bret Hart cuts a promo. Hart feels confident about the match with WWF World Champion Diesel at Survivor Series. Hart likes that there needs to be a winner. Bret says that the WWF World Championship should be his and doesn’t think Diesel is better than him. Bret says that Diesel will meet the truck stop at Survivor Series. Hart notes that he didn’t need football players to shove his foot into Jerry Lawler’s mouth.
Final Thoughts:
I enjoyed the episode as we got a strong feature match and there were a few angle advancements. I’m glad there’s still some focus put on Superstars even with RAW having competition now.
Thanks for reading.
