Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Marty Jannetty shared some pre-tape comments during 1-2-3 Kid’s match. Jannetty was surprised that Kid would join the Corporation. Jannetty promises to get to Kid.
2.) Fatu shared some pre-tape comments shown during his match. Fatu is thankful for changing his life around and tells kids to stay in school and say no to drugs.
3.) Hunter Hearst Helmsley visited a hog pen prior to Henry Godwinn’s match. Helmsley is disgusted by the smell of the farm. Henry Godwinn also cut a pre-tape promo saying that he’s going to toss Helmsley into his hog pen at IYH. Following his match, Godwinn had a brief confrontation with Mr. Bob Backlund, who was standing in the crowd.
4.) Billy and Skip kickoff the tag match main event. Skip head scissors Billy, but Billy hits a backdrop only to miss an elbow drop. Radford tags in, but Billy drop toe holds Rad to the mat. Gunns hip toss Radfrod and press slam Skip onto Radford leading to a two count for Bart. Billy returns to the match and dropkicks Radford while Bart hit a vertical suplex. Skip pulls the ropes down causing Bart to fall over the top rope to the floor. Skip nails Bart with a right hand and Radford delivers several strikes on the floor while the referee is distracted. Skip comes off the apron to nail Bart with a strike on the floor. The show goes to commercial.
Radford and Bart trade right hands with Rad getting the advantage. Bart hits a crossbody off the ropes and dropkicks Skip to the floor. Sunny trips Bart from the floor and Radford delivers a leg drop for a two count. Skip keeps Bart on the mat with a sleeper hold. Bart powers to his feet and elbows free from Skip. Skip sends Bart over the top to the floor. Skip hits a somersault dive to the floor to take out Bart on the outside. Skip scoop slams Bart and Radford delivers a forearm drop. Bart takes Radford down with a backslide for a two count. Radford nails Bart with a dropkick for a near fall. Skip plants Bart with a back suplex and comes off the middle rope to hit a leg drop for a two count. Radford slams Bart and Skip leaps off the top to miss a splash. Radford and Billy tag into the match with Billy hammering away on Rad. Billy elbows Radford followed by a few clotheslines. All four men are in the ring as Rad and Skip are sent into each other. Billy gets a rollup on Skip, but Skip counters and is sent into Sunny on the apron. Billy sends Skip to the floor. The Gunns hit the Sidewinder on Radford for the win. (**1/2. An enjoyable tag match with Skip getting a few moments to shine and showcase his high flying ability. I liked the finish and I’ve been liking the tendency of clean finishes on Superstars.)
5.) Jerry Lawler is going into training for a title shot against WWF World Champion Bret Hart and reveals that Mr. Perfect will replace him on Superstars commentary moving forward.
Final Thoughts:
A fine episode of Superstars this week as they spent some time promoting the MSG taking place on the same day. The tag main event was an enjoyable match and the show as a whole was entertaining.
Thanks for reading.
