ECW Hardcore TV 5/21/2000
Extreme Championship Wrestling presents Hardcore TV
Date: 5/21/2000
From: Minneapolis, MN
Matches:
1.) Chilly Willy defeated Bill Wiles
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Joey Styles starts the show saying that Lori Fullington, the Sandman’s wife, is still in the hospital and has been there since Hardcore Heaven 2000. We see footage of what Rhino did to her at the PPV. It was a dangerous piledriver off the apron through a table.
2.) Backstage, Cyrus is with ECW TV Champion Rhino, Jack Victory and Steve Corino cutting a promo. Cyrus says the Network kicked ass at the PPV. Rhino chimes in and says he’ll kick anyone’s ass that gets in his way. He did that to Sandman and his wife. Rhino ends the promo by breathing heavily into the camera.
3.) Lou E. Dangerously cuts a promo in the ring. Dangerously tells the crowd they need to shut up and says he was going to allow Electra to take her jacket off, but that’s not happening now. Dangerously thinks he’s the best manager in wrestling today. Dangerously threatens to hit the fans because they won’t let him do his catchphrase. Dangerously eventually delivers the line.
4.) Willy mocks Electra and that leads to Wiles wanting to walkout on the match all together. Wiles returns to the match, though. Willy hammers away on Wiles in the corner several times to start the match and plays to the crowd. Willy ducks a clothesline, but Wiles delivers on a second attempt. Willy gets distracted by Dangerously and Wiles delivers a superkick. Wiles kicks Willy and hits a double under hook suplex for a two count. Dangerously chokes Willy over the ropes while the referee is distracted. Willy fights back with a few strikes. Wiles eye rakes Willy to regain the advantage and scoop slams Willy. Wiles leaps off the middle rope missing an elbow drop. Willy punches Wiles several times and hits a backdrop. Willy follows up with a dropkick for a two count. Willy elbow strikes Wiles into the corner followed by chops. Wiles spin kicks Willy in the corner and uses the ropes for leverage, but the referee saw it. Willy hits a sit out slam, but Electra gets involved while the referee is distracted. Jazz enters and rips Electra’s jacket off followed by a takedown. Dangerously accidentally hits Wiles with the phone. Willy rolls Wiles up for the win. (*. Willy has charisma, but the action here was basic and mostly uninteresting.)
5.) Steve Corino cut a promo during a tag match complaining about Tajiri hurting him at the PPV. The tag match is between Da Baldies and Doring/Roadkill. Oh, Nova and Chetti are in the match, too. The focus was on Corino for the most part. Nova and Chetti are eliminated by Da Baldies. Chetti destroys Baldies with a chair shot. Tidal Wave through a table on Grimes. Doring wins the match with a DDT on DeVito. After the match, Da Baldies attack Doring and Roadkill with a chair. New Jack eventually comes out to make the save.
6.) Backstage, Jerry Lynn cuts a promo about his match with RVD at the PPV and wrestling with a busted face for twenty minutes. Lynn mentions they both got screwed with as Rhino attacked Lynn and Anton took out RVD. Lynn believes that he proved he’s better by pinning RVD.
7.) Backstage, Rob Van Dam doesn’t want to know if Jerry Lynn was in on Anton turning on him. RVD is pissed because he doesn’t lose and says he’ll deal with Anton and Cyrus in due time. RVD is especially pissed off because it was his comeback match from ankle injury.
8.) They re-aired the Raven vs. Credible match from ECW on TNN.
9.) Backstage, Sinister Minister is with Mikey Whipwreck and a rock group. Minister gets frustrated with the guitarist for messing up. Minister fires him and Whipwreck throws a fireball into his face.
Final Thoughts:
This was mostly a recap of what happened at the PPV with one exclusive match that amounted to basically nothing. Safe to say this one could be skipped.
Thanks for reading.
