Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Vince McMahon, Bobby Heenan, Mr. Perfect, Hillbilly Jim, and Jim Duggan are on the panel this week. They discuss LOD getting their hands on Beverly Brothers soon. Heenan mentions they are sissies or pansies. Duggan insults the Beverly’s cheap capes as being drapes from a hotel room.
2.) Special Report hosted by Lord Alfred Hayes is up next. The focus is on the recent Sgt. Slaughter vs. Ric Flair match on Superstars last week. Mountie and Jimmy Hart got involved during the match and zapped Slaughter with a large shock stick. Slaughter ended up doing a stretcher job. The Mountie and Jimmy Hart cut a promo with Mountie telling Slaughter to never give him an order and now Slaughter knows who is in command.
3.) The panel talks about Mountie and his shock stick. Hillbilly says the shock stick is illegal as Jack Tunney ruled recently.
4.) Col. Mustafa continuing to get squash matches in 1992 continues to blow my mind. Mustafa won his match with the camel clutch. In case you didn’t know, Mustafa was previously known as Iron Sheik.
5.) The panel discusses Big Bossman and the mysterious person who is declaring they are coming after him. Mr. Perfect says that Bossman knows that he’s treated people poorly and is concerned. Hillbilly Jim doesn’t think this is right.
6.) DiBiase yanks Snuka down to the mat by his hair and regroups in the ropes to avoid Snuka. DiBiase backs Snuka into a corner and delivers a forearm in the corner to stagger Snuka, but Snuka stalks DiBiase to the floor. DiBiase thinks he’s in the clear, but Snuka strikes DiBiase several times on the floor. Snuka rolls DiBiase into the ring, but DiBiase delivers a strike and a shoulder block. Snuka chops DiBiase coming off the ropes and covers for a two count. DiBiase clotheslines Snuka over the top to the floor. Sensational Sherri is with DiBiase at ringside, which is noted as a “loan” by Monsoon. DiBiase stomps Snuka from the apron. Sherri cheap shots Snuka on the floor. DiBiase rams Snuka into the ring steps face first. DiBiase knocks Snuka off the apron with a forearm strike. DiBiase pulls Snuka to the apron and hits a suplex into the ring. DiBiase continues with a fist drop for a near fall. DiBiase sends Snuka into the corner and locks in a bearhug. Snuka fights out of the bearhug, but DiBiase sits Snuka on the top rope. Snuka headbutts DiBiase and hits a leaping clothesline for a two count. Snuka misses a crossbody attempt and DiBiase delivers an elbow drop for the clean win. (*. This match is from September 1991, so it really doesn’t match the storyline or placement for either man. The match is mostly boring. Snuka doesn’t do much for me, at all.)
7.) High Energy won their tag team squash match following Koko and Owen hitting stereo missile dropkicks on their opponents and Koko pins Bradley.
8.) The panel reacts to Ultimate Warrior puking due to Papa Shango’s curse. Everyone on the panel don’t feel well and all seem on the verge of puking.
9.) Santana arm drags Kato several times and atomic drops Kato into the corner. Santana dropkicks Kato to the floor. Kato fights back with a few chops to stagger Santana. Kato elbows Santana coming off the ropes and plays to the crowd. Kato overhand strikes Santana several times. Santana avoids a slam, but Kato blocks a rollup and Santana falls to the mat. Santana arm drags Kato and keeps arm control. Kato backs Santana into a corner and delivers another arm drag. Santana ducks an elbow strike, but Kato drives Santana down with a backbreaker. Kato stomps Santana on the back and delivers a few strikes to the lower back. Kato keeps a chin lock on Santana and splashes down on Santana’s back. Kato puts a chin lock on Santana, but doesn’t get a submission. Santana backs Kato into the corner to break free. Santana punches Kato several times, but runs into a boot. Kato tries for a cover with his feet on the ropes, but Santana kicks out at two. Santana gets a rollup on Kato for a two count. Kato overhand strikes Santana, but Santana drives Kato down to the mat face first. Santana elbows Kato and rams Kato into the corner several times face first. Santana decks Kato with a series of right hands. Santana comes off the ropes with a clothesline and plays to the crowd. Santana overhand strikes Kato and delivers a running knee lift. Santana comes off the ropes to hit a flying forearm for the win. (*. Kato was boring while controlling the match. Santana’s burst of offense at the end was fun, but the majority of the match felt dull and boring.)
Final Thoughts:
They touched base on a few angles and the spotlight on Warrior/Shango clearly shows the pivot away from Sid and his firing. The vomit stuff and the oversized shock stick is a bit too comical and I can see how these kinds of angles would drive people away from the product as being too silly and cartoonish
Thanks for reading.
