Matches:

2.) Ron Simmons defeated Bob Cook
3.) Steiner Brothers defeated James Contz & Mike McReynolds
4.) Tom Zenk defeated John Peterson
5.) WCW United States Champion Rick Rude defeated Brian Pillman
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Gigante works over Canterbury with strikes and delivers a splash in the corner. Gigante scoop slams Canterbury to the mat followed by a running clothesline. Gigante nails Canterbury with a big boot and signals for the claw. Gigante puts the claw on Canterbury and easily wins the match. (NR. There’s nothing to this. I think there’s a way to have value for Gigante if he’s used simply as a special attraction. The crowd popped for him initially, but as the match went along they kind of died out.)
2.) Sting cuts a promo on Rick Rude asking if he’s a stripper or a wrestler when he’s moving his hips. Sting wants to shove Paul E. Dangerously’s phone down his throat. Sting is going to dislocate Rude’s hips.
3.) Simmons easily wins his enhancement match following a spinebuster.
4.) Steiner Brothers have a pitbull named Arnold with them, but is taken backstage during the bout. The Steiner’s easily win following the top rope bulldog by Rick off of Scott’s shoulders.
5.) Gordon Solie hosts the Wrestling News Network. Solie talks about Ricky Steamboat and his issues with the Dangerous Alliance. We see footage from Steamboat battling Zbyszko from Worldwide. Paul E. Dangerously has been barred from ringside for the Steamboat vs. Rude bout at Superbrawl. Also, Marcus Alexander Bagwell battles Terry Taylor. Eight man tag is announced as it will see El Gigante, Johnny B. Badd, Big Josh & Mike Graham battling the Young Pistols, Vinnie Vegas and Diamond Dallas Page. Sting provided a comment regarding his WCW World Championship match against Lex Luger. Sting talks about having a big heart while Luger has a small one. Sting considers this bigger than any other sporting event. Sting proceeds to scream to end the segment.
6.) Jim Ross interviews Big Josh. Josh says that Ron Simmons has been taking him under his wing. Josh says they’re going forward and they’re going for it all. Vinnie Vegas enters the scene to confront Josh and doesn’t mean any disrespect. Vegas says they need to make an example out of someone and they chose Josh. Vegas doesn’t want to say who his people in Vegas are. They might break his arms, legs or back. Vegas insults Josh a couple of times. Vegas proceeds to sucker punch Josh and stomps Josh along with Harley Race. Race is choking Josh with a wooden bat. Vegas tells Josh he’s been chosen and to not mess with his people.
7.) Zenk wins his enhancement match easily following a superkick.
8.) Brickhosue Bonus focuses on Larry Zbyszko. Brickhouse is not happy with Zbyszko’s antics since October 1991. Zbyszko prides himself on injuring wrestlers, and Brickhouse says what goes around comes around. Brickhouse warns that someday it will happen to Zbyszko.
9.) Rude takes a moment to taunt Pillman with the WCW United States Championship. Rude tries to back Pillman into a corner, but Pillman avoids it. Rude manages to get Pillman in the corner, but cleanly backs off and offers a handshake, Pillman declines the handshake and is met with a forearm and headlock on the mat. Rude shoulder blocks Pillman, but Pillman responds with a drop toe hold and works over the left knee of Rude. Pillman knee strikes Rude while keeping the champ on the mat. Rude knee lifts Pillman coming off the ropes, but Pillman stops Rude and tries for a spinning toe hold, but is kicked through the ropes to the floor. Rude is hobbling in the ring. Pillman pulls Rude down in the corner from the floor and wraps Rude’s leg around the ring post. Pillman continues to strike Rude, but Rude drops Pillman chest first down to the mat. Rude knee lifts Pillman followed by a strike to the chest. Rude eye rakes Pillman and continues with strikes in the corner. Rude hooks Pillman to deliver a vertical suplex for a near fall. Pillman kicks Rude on the knee, but Rude eye rakes Pillman followed by a backbreaker. Rude continues with a scoop slam tossing Pillman to the mat. Pillman strikes Rude in the midsection a few times followed by an elbow strike. Rude continues with a forearm strike to the back. Rude locks in a bearhug in the middle of the ring. Pillman strikes free and tries for a crucifix, but Rude counters with a slam to the mat for a two count. Rude delivers a forearm drop to the chest. Rude wipes sweat at the fans and heads to the top rope. Rude leaps off, but is met with a dropkick in midair! Rude recovers to knee lift Pillman and tries for the Rude Awakening, but Pillman gets to the ropes. Rude doesn’t let go and forearms Pillman. Pillman fights back with strikes in the corner. Rude dumps Pillman to the apron, but Pillman hits a springboard clothesline for a near fall. Rude bails to the floor to regroup. Pillman takes Rude out with a crossbody on the floor. Pillman heads to the top rope hitting another crossbody, but the referee is distracted leading to a near fall. Pillman attempts another crossbody, but Rude drops Pillman throat first over the top rope and delivers the Rude Awakening to pickup the win. (***. It’s a good TV match with Pillman showcasing his highflying moves very well. Rude gave a lot to Pillman and allowed the crowd to believe in Pillman for a moment. I like that Rude won cleanly as he’s a major superstar and doesn’t need direct interference to win matches all the time.)
10.) WCW United States Champion Rick Rude and Paul E. Dangerously cut a promo promoting a steel cage match with Sting taking place in Chicago. Rude chimes in and thinks the fans don’t care about him or Sting. The fans just want to see two men fight and wants to find out who the man is. It’s taking place the night after Superbrawl II at the UCI Pavillon.
11.) Next week, there’s a massive eight man tag match where Sting teams with the Steiner Brothers and Marcus Alexander Bagwell to battle Arn Anderson, Bobby Eaton, Larry Zbyszko and Cactus Jack!
Final Thoughts:
A good show this week with obvious quality action. Sting and Rude are doing a good job at promoting a local steel cage match in Chicago. It makes me wonder how or why they didn’t do a PPV match between them for nearly two more years.
Thanks for reading.
