Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) We see footage from SummerSlam Spectacular where WWF World Champion Randy Savage teamed with Ultimate Warrior against the Nasty Boys.
2.) I like the usage of Flair on the show right before SummerSlam. Despite not being booked to compete on SummerSlam, Flair has been a major focus heading into the event between Savage and Warrior.
3.) Ultimate Warrior cuts a promo regarding SummerSlam. Warrior wants it to be clear that he’s fully aware of the storyline that Savage has painted for the fans. Warrior recalls standing eye to eye with Savage and mentions a blurriness in Savage’s eye that he didn’t understand. However, now Warrior understands that Savage had already sold out to Perfect and Flair. Warrior talks about not allowing Savage to be double teamed. Warrior believes that Savage paid Flair and Perfect to beat him up knowing that Warrior would save him. Warrior says that they didn’t work together when they fought the Nasty Boys. Warrior knows that Savage paid the price considering the attack by Perfect and Flair during that tag match. Warrior proclaims that Savage has sold his soul to the devil. Warrior will release all the fury and rage onto Savage at SummerSlam. Savage will never be the same.
4.) WWF World Champion Randy Savage also cuts a promo regarding SummerSlam. Savage almost was fooled by Warrior. Savage knows that Warrior will have Mr. Perfect in his corner at SummerSlam. Savage recalls their face to face and says that he had a feeling that Warrior knew he needed an insurance policy. Savage remembers being called out by Perfect and Flair and it forced Warrior to make an appearance. Savage doubts if Warrior’s roundhouse punch to Flair even landed. Perfect managed to escape without a strike. Savage isn’t buying into what Warrior is selling. Savage finds it interesting the timing that Perfect being in someone’s corner is first mentioned when Warrior is interviewed. Savage doesn’t think everything mixes well. Savage says they don’t mix and they will not mix at SummerSlam. Savage promises to be the WWF World Champion at the end of SummerSlam. Savage tells Warrior he’ll have to live with it.
5.) Repo Man shares comments during Crush’s match. Repo says the fans will be cheering for Crush, but he’s going to repossess his career.
6.) Beverly Brothers shared pre-tape comments during their match. The Beverly Brothers believe they will accomplish their greatest goal and that’s becoming the WWF Tag Team Champions at SummerSlam.
7.) The Undertaker and Paul Bearer shared comments during the Undertaker’s match. Bearer says that Kamala will look into the eyes of the Undertaker at SummerSlam.
8.) Mean Gene hosts the final WWF SummerSlam Report segment. Ric Flair and Mr. Perfect cut a promo regarding the match between WWF World Champion Randy Savage and Ultimate Warrior. Perfect says they have both of them where they want them. Flair looks thrilled with what has been going on. Flair says their lives our perfect and we’ll see that at SummerSlam. Footage of Papa Shango putting an alleged curse on WWF Intercontinental Champion Bret Hart is shown. Bret cut a promo saying that he can feel the pressure for SummerSlam. Bret says that Bulldog has to live with the fact he’s going to lose in front of his hometown fans. Bret promises to overcome the curse that Shango put on him, as well.
9.) Money Inc. & Jimmy Hart share comments during LOD’s match. IRS says that lightning will strike twice when they win a second time. DiBiase tells LOD to not make promises they can’t keep. DiBiase says it will short, sweet and painful when they win.
10.) Bobby Heenan notes that neither WWF World Champion Randy Savage or Ultimate Warrior as flat out denied talking to Mr. Perfect. All the questions will be answered this Monday at SummerSlam.
Final Thoughts:
The final buildup between Savage/Warrior/Flair/Perfect was fantastic here. Having another layer added to the WWF World Championship match makes the title match more exciting and compelling. I enjoyed this episode quite a bit.
Thanks for reading.
