Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Jim Ross hosts Power Hour and runs down the card we’ll be seeing tonight.
2.) Madusa hasn’t had a women’s match on WCW TV since November 1991, when she wrestled Lelani Kai. The next match is actually a re-airing of their match from last year.
3.) Madusa strikes Bambi and they shove each other leading to Madusa kicking Bambi to the floor. Bambi shoulder rams Madusa from the apron and drops Madusa over the top rope. Bambi shoulder blocks Madusa, but Madusa comes back with a kick to the head. Bambi gets wrist control for a moment until Madusa forearms Bambi. Bambi takes Madusa down to the mat for a two count. Bambi gets a wrist lock on Madusa, but Madusa takes Bambi down to the mat with an arm bar. Madusa continues to wrench on Bambi’s arm, but Bambi strikes Madusa in the corner. Madusa flips to the apron and decks the cameraman with her legs. Madusa leaps off the top to arm drag Bambi followed by a clothesline. Madusa misses a clothesline in the corner and Bambi monkey flips Madusa out of the corner. Madusa taunts the fans, but misses a heel kick. Bambi comes off the ropes with a crossbody for a two count. Bambi strikes Madusa and delivers a facebuster for a two count. Bambi decks Madusa with a clothesline and a bulldog for a two count as Madusa reached the ropes to break the count. Madusa hits a bridging German suplex as Bambi argued with the referee for the win. (**. This was fine for wha it was. I don’t know if there’s much benefit if showing Madusa in a wrestling role since she’s only a manager nowadays anyway and there aren’t a lot of options for her opponent wise. WCW isn’t going to basically ever have a women’s division with any substance.)
4.) JT Southern wins his match with a rollup in the corner and puts his feet on the ropes for the cheap win.
5.) Johnny B. Badd wins his enhancement match following a left hook.
6.) Terrence Taylor wins his enhancement match following a leaping forearm smash.
7.) The Vader vs. Bagwell match took place on Worldwide Wrestling originally.
8.) Vader forearms Bagwell in the corner several times, but Bagwell battles back and dropkicks Vader. Vader doesn’t budge and boots Bagwell. Vader back suplexs Bagwell to keep the advantage. Vader decks Bagwell with a clothesline and taunts the crowd before hitting a big splash off the ropes. Vader powerbombs Bagwell dangerously onto his shoulder, but doesn’t go for a cover. Vader sends Bagwell into a corner and delivers a splash. Vader decks Bagwell with a clothesline. Vader grabs Bagwell and slams Bagwell to the mat for the win. (NR. I mean, this is complete dominance by Vader.) After the match , Vader runs the ropes and splashes Bagwell. Vader hits a middle rope splash onto Bagwell. Sting eventually runs down to the ring and pulls Bagwell out. Vader grabs a microphone calling out Sting to come to the ring and Sting runs back to brawl with Vader. Vader decks Sting several times, but misses a clothesline. Sting pummels Vader with strikes. Sting missile dropkicks Vader, but Vader bails to the floor to regroup. Sting stands on the top rope taunting Vader to end the segment.
9.) Missy Does The Mail hosted by Missy Hyatt is up next. Hyatt talks about the Ricky Steamboat injury, which was highlighted last week. They show the same footage from last week. Footage from Saturday Night is shown where Steamboat tells Ross that what is happening in the ring is coming home with him and he’s livid about his son seeing him with a broken nose. Hyatt’s sources say that Steamboat’s son was afraid to be held by his father.
10.) Josh and Eaton kickoff the main event with Eaton delivering knee lifts, but Josh hip tosses Eaton across the ring. Josh puts a headlock on Eaton and shoulder blocks Eaton through the ropes to the floor. Anderson tags into the match to try his luck, but Anderson wants a piece of Zenk. Zenk joins the match backing Anderson into his own corner. Anderson backs Zenk against the ropes, but misses a kick and Zenk atomic drops Anderson leading to everyone getting a punch in on Anderson. Zbyszko tags in and slams Zenk, but Zenk responds with a few slams of his own. Simmons tags in and taunts Rude, who has also entered the match. Rude wants to do a test of strength. Simmons locks into the test of strength and they struggle to gain a clear advantage. Rude takes Simmons down to his knees for the advantage. Simmons powers to his feet and drops Rude to his feet. Simmons stomps on Rude’s fingers causing Rude to regroup in the corner and tags in Eaton.
Eaton works over Pillman in the corner, but Pillman hip tosses Eaton followed by a dropkick. Pillman chops Eaton in the corner and tags in Zenk. Eaton is met with a double dropkick. Zenk scoop slams Eaton and continues to deliver strikes. Anderson gets involved and is decked by Zenk. Eaton cuts off Zenk, but Zenk gets a rollup, but Anderson plants Zenk with a spinebuster for the win. (*. So, that was a bit awkward. Toward the end of the match, Pillman essentially tossed himself to the floor as Zbyszko didn’t do the backdrop spot. This isn’t a surprising win since the babyfaces are all secondary on the card anyway. There wasn’t enough time to give any substantial shine to anyone in the match.)
Final Thoughts:
Probably the first episode of Power Hour that I’d consider a skippable episode.
Thanks for reading.
