MATCH #1: KAIENTAI VS. CHUCK PALUMBO & TOMMY DREAMER
FINISH: Palumbo superkicks Taka leading to the win.
Bob’s Take: Funaki tried to use his speed advantage early on, but Taka helped out to deliver a double dropkick on Palumbo and a double snap suplex on Dreamer. Dreamer gets control with basic strikes before Palumbo tags in and maintained the attack. Dreamer and Palumbo are not coming across as a great team by any means. Palumbo tosses Funaki overhead with a nice belly to belly suplex. Dreamer almost pinned Funaki after a sit out spinebuster. Funaki countered a TKO attempt with a reverse DDT. Taka finally got the hot tag and cleaned house with strikes including a springboard spinning heel kick to Dreamer. Moments later, Palumbo finished off Taka with the superkick. Kaientai looked far better than Dreamer & Palumbo and they carried this bout for the most part.
Match Rating: *1/2
MATCH #2: BILLY GUNN VS. HUGH MORRUS
FINISH: Gunn finishes off Morrus with the Fame-Asser.
Bob’s Take: I don’t know what it is, but Gunn is looking like a star here on Metal. Gunn withstands an early slam to clobber Morrus with strikes and knocks Morrus to the floor with a clothesline. Morrus stops Gunn on the apron and sends Gunn chest first into the post. Morrus continued the offense with a slam, but can’t put Gunn away. Morrus misses a top rope elbow drop after a flapjack. Gunn battles back with a clothesline. Morrus dangerously drops Gunn with a powerbomb, but missed the No Laughing Matter leading to the finish. They kept a good pace and this was enjoyable for the shortness of the bout.
Match Rating: **
MATCH #3: ALBERT VS. MIKE AWESOME
FINISH: Albert pins Awesome with the Baldo Bomb
Bob’s Take: Early on, Awesome sends Albert into the post and focuses his attack on the left arm. Awesome wraps Albert’s arm around the ropes and continued a basic approach to the offense. Awesome misses a top rope splash attempt. Albert almost wins following a bicycle kick and a middle rope splash. Albert tries for the Baldo Bomb, but is stopped by a big boot. Awesome tries for the Awesome Bomb out of the corner, but Albert countered with the Baldo Bomb. That finish sequence was nicely done, but Awesome’s arm work on Albert was rather lackluster and uninteresting for the most part.
Match Rating: *1/4
MAIN EVENT: RAVEN VS. SCOTTY 2 HOTTY
FINISH: Raven plants Hotty with the Raven Effect for the victory.
Bob’s Take: Hotty controls the match with a head scissors and superkick early into the match. Hotty responds by sending Raven over the top to the floor. Raven knee lifts Scotty to the floor and drives Hotty into the barricade. Hotty delivers another kick and several clotheslines. Hotty hits the WORM and a top rope crossbody by Terri. Hotty tried to hit the WORM on Terri, but that allowed Raven to hit the Raven Effect for the finish. Not much for action here, but it was still a fun match and I love that Terri got involved and missed her crossbody allowing for the sneaky heel win by Raven.
Match Rating: *1/2
Final Thoughts:
There’s not a standout match here, but I’m at least glad a few Alliance members were able to get victories. Despite their victories, this is still a skippable show.
Thanks for reading.
