Colt Cabana first got his start in Ring of Honor in 2002. It didn’t take long for his personality to shine and he proved that he could hang in the ring with some of the best wrestlers in the world. He was the ideal mix of wrestler. Sure, he could be a comedy wrestler, but he delivered in the ring and has had some memorable serious feuds in ROH. It would take a couple of years before he’d earn a ROH World Championship match. Read more
Samoa Joe is the current number one contender for the WWE Universal Championship that is held by Brock Lesnar. Yet, nobody seems to take him as a serious contender to the title. Yeah, Roman Reigns appears to be the guy that WWE wants to be their champion, but Samoa Joe has been presented rather well in WWE to make him a reasonable threat to Brock Lesnar.

The following match that I decided to highlight in this series sheds some light on that. Bryan Danielson, better known to WWE fans as Daniel Bryan, Samoa Joe and AJ Styles all came up through the independent scene. As you might recall, Daniel Bryan was the hottest act the WWE had in 2014 before a neck injury/concussion cut his career short. Samoa Joe had a successful run in TNA and is now rumored to finally debut on WWE television and, well, AJ Styles runs the damn show on Smackdown after an incredible career that spanned a decade plus in TNA, ROH and NJPW before arriving in the WWE. With one year under their belt and the growing pains out of the way, Squared Circle Wrestling embarked on their second year of existence. Their first year saw them run seven shows from April to December. In 2007, they would double their shows by holding fourteen shows over the year. They didn’t even wait to make a splash in 2007. Here is how 2CW’s second year unfolded. Read more
