WWF Smackdown 2/28/2002

-No clips to start us off this week, as we get right into Smackdown! at the Fleet Center in Boston, Mass. with Cole and King. Triple H and Kane will take on Chris Jericho and Kurt Angle tonight!
Hardy Boyz and Lita vs. Dudley Boyz and Jazz
The Hardyz and Lita come out. The Dudleyz and Stacy, who is limping with a wrapped up ankle, follow. Bubba Ray says that after a long, arduous photo shoot, Stacy injured her ankle. So, to take her place, Jazz comes out. Jazz pushes Lita, who pushes back. Jazz then clotheslines Lita from behind. Matt charges Jazz, but Bubba clotheslines him. Jazz takes it to Lita. Snap suplex by Jazz. Headscissors takedown by Lita. Bubba grabs Lita by the hair and takes her down. Scoop slam by Jazz, who misses the standing frog splash. Tag to Jeff and Bubba. Two dropkicks by Jeff, who misses a Whisper in the Wind. Bubba covers, but Matt breaks it up after two. D-von gets in and hits a modified 3D with Bubba on Jeff. D-Von takes it to Jeff. Spinning elbow to Jeff. Slam by D-Von, 1-2-kickout. Tag to Bubba. Double flapjack. Elbows by Bubba, 1-2-kickout. Headscissors takedown by Jeff off the top rope. DDT by Jeff. Tag to Matt and D-Von. Two clotheslines to D-Von. Back Body Drop to D-Von. New move called the “Side Effect” (or something like that) to D-Von. Jazz gets in the ring, but Lita takes it to her. Scoop slam by Bubba. D-Von goes up top, but Lita pushes him off. Matt reverses Bubba, and Lita hits the Wassup headbutt! Jeff hits a Suicide Dive on Bubba. Matt knocks D-Von out of the ring. Jazz tries to suplex Matt, but he suplexes her. Tag to Lita. Lita hits a Spear. Matt dives onto D-Von. Lita hits a Tilt-O-Whirl Slam on Jazz, 1-2-kickout. Lita goes for a Twist of Fate, but Stacy hits a heel kick! Fisherman’s buster on Lita, 1-2-3!

-Taker is watching a video of him beating on Arn Anderson when Flair comes in. Flair asks if Taker is enjoying himself. Taker says yes, and that Flair can save the drama. All he wants is a yes. Flair turns the TV off and takes the tape out. Taker says he was watching that. Flair says Taker will get his answer tonight and throws the tape down.

Stone Cold comes out to the ring with a steel chair and a wrapped up knee. The nWo comes out before Austin can say anything. Austin lovingly strokes his steel chair. He says that he may go down, but the first sumbitch in the ring will go down with him. Hogan tells him to relax. He’s in no position to be making threats to anyone, let alone the nWo. He’s not in any better shape than the Rock. Speaking of Rocky, he won’t be here tonight. Hogan is producing an epic saga about the legendary career of Hollywood Hulk Hogan. The gimp is in checkmate, so he isn’t needed. Hogan is going to work on his saga. Hall addresses the “redneck”. Doesn’t he get it? They put the Rock down and out. They put Austin down. Maybe he needs a refresher course in nWo 101. They look at clips from RAW when Hall dropped a cinderblock on Austin’s knee. Hall says that’s just the beginning of him being treated like an animal. At Wrestlemania, Austin goes down and out. Nash says Hall shouldn’t wait, he should go down there and kick the gimp’s ass. Austin tells him not to come down here, he’ll go up there. Austin walks up the ramp, stops, pulls out a gun, and shoots a net at Kevin Nash! Hall takes out Austin’s knee, gets Nash out of the net, and they escape.

-We see clips from RAW, where RVD wins the Triple Threat to get an Intercontinental title shot at Wrestlemania!
William Regal vs. Big Show
Regal comes out for this match that was made because Regal called Show a barbarian on RAW. (And Show’s upset about that? Isn’t he the one who dressed up like Conan…the Barbarian, not the late night host?) Show soon comes out. Show bearhugs Regal, who battles out. Big boot to Regal, who rolls out of the ring. Regal tries to leave, but Show stops him. Regal goes into the steps, then back in the ring. Regal leaves again, but Show tosses him in over the top rope. Clothesline by Show. Show takes it to Regal. Back elbow by Show. Regal hits the power of the punch, but Show bounces out the ropes and collapses on Regal, 1-2-3!

-Booker T is getting ready for an audition to be a spokesperson. Book rehearses his ad for Japanese shampoo. Tajiri says it was very offensive. Book says he wrote it himself. What’s wrong with it, sucka? Tajiri wonders what Booker thinks is wrong with Japanese people’s hair when his hair looks like “Buckwheat on crack” (Tajiri knows only a few words English, but is a fan of the Little Rascals?). Booker walks out.
-Jericho polishes his titles. Steph says he should get someone to do that for him since it is a task beneath the Undisputed Champion. Did she see how he beat Angle on RAW. She did, but he has to team with Ange tonight. She asks if Jericho got her hand lotion. He did. Steph says it’s the wrong lotion, it’ll make her break out. He needs to go to get the real stuff. Jericho says he has a match, he’ll do it after the show. If he wants her help, he needs to get it now. Jericho says know what? He wants to get it.
-Maven gets ready for his very first title defense.

Maven vs. Goldust- Hardcore Title
Maven comes out first. Goldust makes his grand entrance. Clothesline to Maven. Goldust backs it up on Maven. Headtoss and kneedrop, 1-2-kickout. Maven drops Goldust, crotch first, on his knee. Goldust knocks Maven outside. Goldust tosses two trash cans in the ring. Goldust hits Maven with a trash can lid. Back in the ring, Goldust gets a trash can, but Maven kicks it in his face, 1-2-kickout. DDT to Maven. Goldust sets the trashcan in the corner. Goldust slingshots Maven into the can. Goldust locks in a knee in the back submission. Front suplex by Goldust. Goldust gets the fire extinguisher and sets it down. Maven sprays the fire extinguisher in Goldust’s face and rolls him up with a schoolboy for the 1-2-3!

-After the match, Goldust kicks Maven in the back of the head. Undertaker comes out. Undertaker takes it to Maven. Al Snow comes down and knocks Taker out of the ring. Taker gets back in and they start an official match. Snow takes it to Taker. Clothesline by Taker. Superkick by Snow knocks Taker outside. Taker pulls Snow out. Snow goes into the barricade and the steps. Taker misses a chairshot. Taker goes into the steps. Snow gets the chair, but Taker chokeslams him onto the floor. Back in the ring, Taker locks in the Taking Care of Business. Flair comes out and grabs Taker’s lead pipe. Flair hits Taker with the pipe over and over. Flair gets on the mic and says that his answer is still no. If Taker comes after his friends again, he’ll show why he’s the Dirtiest Player in the Game (He’s in Triple H? Eww…). Another pipe shot to Taker. Whoo!

-We see clips from RAW where Billy and Chuck ambush the APA in the bar.
Billy and Chuck vs. Acolytes- Tag Team Titles
Billy and Chuck comes out first. The APA come out next. Farooq battles Chuck inside while Bradshaw beats on Billy outside. Bradshaw and Billy go in the ring, and Farooq tosses Chuck out. Billy goes for a cross body, but Bradshaw catches him and hits a fallaway slam. The APA doubleteam with a suplex/neckbreaker. Chuck comes in, but gets tossed right out. Bradshaw takes it to Chuck outside. Farooq takes out Billy. Chuck is tossed in the ring. Double team by the APA. Doubleteam powerbomb/spinebuster by the APA. Big boot and clothesline outside to Billy. Spinebuster to Chuck. Bradshaw goes into the steps. Billy comes in and hits the Fameasser on Farooq. Billy rolls Chuck over for the 1-2-3!

-Maven is on a stretcher backstage, being checked on by a doctor. Goldust comes to see if he’s okay. Goldust then tosses Maven down and covers for the 1-2-3! Goldust is the new Hardcore Champion!

-Booker comes in when Tajiri is on the phone with the shampoo company. Booker takes the phone and talks to the shampoo people. He says “Shower now” as a goodbye (instead of Sayonara) and gives the phone back to Tajiri. He leaves, and Tajiri says “Don’t worry, just the jackass”.
-We see Hogan’s epic saga. It shows clips from wrestling, talk shows, commercials, movies, miscellaneous products, and other clips. We see the formation of the nWo and their integration into the WWF.

Booker T vs. Scotty Too Hotty
The Booker Man comes out. Scotty 2 Hotty comes out. Booker takes it to Scotty. Scotty goes outside, but he holds onto the ropes and pulls himself back in. Flying forearm by Scotty. Spinebuster by Boker. Armwrench and hook kick by Booker. Suplex by Book, 1-2-kickout. Back elbow by Book. Clothesline by Book before Scotty could hit the bulldog. Book misses the side kick, and Scotty capitilizes by hitting the bulldog. Scotty goes for the Worm, but Booker kicks him in the face instead. Scotty gets tossed on the top rope. Scissors kick and Spinneroonie by Booker T. Side kick by Book, 1-2-3!

-After the match, we see the shampoo people on the TitanTron. They award the oh-so-illustrious title of a Japanese shampoo spokesperson to…Edge! Tell me they didn’t just say that!

-Christian has no idea what he’s doing here. Why is he even listening to this guy? DDP sneaks up on him and scares Christian. s he ready to embrace positive energy? Whatever. He has to embrace the fans to win. DDP introduces him to two kids. The boy calls Christian ugly, but DDP tells Christian to have a sense of humor. Christian reluctantly tells the boy he’s funny. The girl says Christian is a loser. Christian says that if she wants to see a loser, look at their father. They say their dad left them, and stomp on Christian’s foot. No wonder he left.
-Steph walks backstage and into Triple H’s lockerroom. Kane leaves the room. Steph says his comments were uncalled for. She’s looking into slander claims. Trips is sure that you can’t bust a guy for telling the truth (uhhh…have you been in America lately, Hunter?). She says his lawyers are unreasonable. Unreasonable? She’s getting 50%. Sher squandered her fortune. 50% is more than fair. Maybe to him. She wants 50% of everything he has until the day he dies. And she always gets what she wants.

-We see clips of Jericho retaining the title against Angle on RAW.
Kane and Triple H vs. Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho
The pyros flare as Kane comes out first. Trips comes out second. Angle comes out next. Jericho and Stephanie come out last. Kane and Trips play pinball with Angle. back body drop by Kane to Angle. Angle goes outside. Running knee strike to Jericho. Kurt goes into the steps. Flying forearm to HHH. Clothesline by Triple H. Tag to Kane. Kane tosses Jericho into the air and lets him fall down. Clothesline to Jericho. Missile dropkick to Kane. Tag to Kurt. Big ole slam by Kane. Jericho guillotines Kane on the ropes. Double team. Kane double clotheslines Angle and Jericho. Kane goes for the Tombstone on Angle, but Jericho takes out his knee. Angle spears Kane’s knee. Angle tosses Kane’s knee into the pole. Jericho gets in the ring and locks in a knee submission, holding on to Angle for leverage. Tag to Angle. Angle works on Kane’s knee. German to Kane. Two spears to Kane’s knee. Angle goes for a third spear, but Kane hits a clothesline. Kane goes for a chokeslam, but Angle battles out. Kane misses an enziguiri, and Angle locks in the Anglelock. HHH breaks the hold and hits a DDT on Angle. Tag to Jericho, who stops Kane from tagging Triple H. Kane hits a slam on Jericho and tags Triple H. Tag to Angle. Clotheslines to Angle. Neckbreaker to Jericho. Spinebuster to Angle. Jericho accidently hits an elbow on Angle. Knee to the face of Angle, 1-2-broken by Jericho. Triple H sets up the Pedigree on Angle, but Steph breaks it up. Triple H sets up the Pedigree on Steph, but Jericho hits him with the title. Angle covers for a two count. Anglelock on Triple H. Flying clothesline by Kane. Jericho jumps right into a setup for a chokeslam. Steph hits Kane with a chair. Kane grabs the chair and hits Angle. Pedigree to Angle, 1-2-3!

Man of the Night- Hogan. We saw a pretty cool package of the man tonight. We’ll toss a little credit to the man who made the WWF.
Match of the Night- Big Show vs. Regal. Okay match with a funny finish. I liked the ending.
Quotation of the Night- “Yo! Japanese people! What’s the deal with yo’ nasty hair? Just because you know kung fu, doesn’t mean you know shampoo!
