WWF Superstars 11/5/1994

Written by: Bob Colling

World Wrestling Federation presents Superstars
Date:
11/5/1994
From: Burlington, VT

Matches:
1.)Tatanka defeated Billy Gunn
2.)Duke Droese defeated Barry Hardy
3.)WWF World Tag Team Champion Diesel defeated Tim McNeany
4.)Doink the Clown defeated Phil Apollo
5.)IRS defeated Aaron Furguson

Angle Developments/Notes:
1. Gunn works over Tatanka’s left arm in the opening moments of the match. Tatanka came back with a series of chops but Gunn takes him down with a side headlock. Gunn charges but misses Tatanka and flies over the top rope to the floor. On the floor, Tatanka hammers away on Gunn. Back in the ring, Tatanka gets a near fall with a running clothesline. Gunn tries to make a comeback but Tatanka stopped him with a knee lift. Tatanka hits a gut wrench suplex for another two count. Gunn punches Tatanka in midair as he jumped off the top rope. Gunn tries to pin Tatanka a few times but can’t keep him down long enough. DiBiase gets on the apron and that allows Bam-Bam Bigelow to shove Billy off the top and Tatanka gets the win. After the match, the Corporation attacks Billy until Bart Gunn runs out to make the save. (**. Nothing all that good about this one. I’m kind of disappointed that Tatanka couldn’t get a clean win over Billy. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of momentum for Tatanka since the heel turn at SummerSlam.)

2. Bob Backlund and Owen Hart cut a promo about the submission match at Survivor Series. Backlund says he has put his chicken wing on top athletes that couldn’t get out of it. Owen is confident that Bret Hart will give up. WWF World Champion Bret Hart is completely confident about the New Generation beating the Old Generation. Bret tells Backlund that his title win isn’t going to happen. British Bulldog says that he is not going to throw the towel in no matter what.

3. IRS is at the cementary again this week. He wants to know how people expect to die without paying their taxes. IRS is uncovering several infractions that the dead have committed. He takes the tombstone away from the grave site!

4. Backstage, the Smoking Gunns are angry about what happened earlier in the match. They will be wrestling Tatanka and Bigelow next week. Bart says that Billy had the win until Bigelow got involved.

Final Thoughts:
An average episode at best this week. They aren’t getting behind Tatanka as a heel if he can’t beat a tag team wrestler cleanly on the B-show. The submission stipulation for the WWF World Championship is a nice touch and should add more enjoyment to that contest. IRS continues to cut some decent promos as his feud with the Undertaker is surely going to start after Survivor Series.

Thanks for reading.
