World Wrestling Federation presents Superstars
Date: 2/25/1995
From: West Palm Beach, FL
Matches:
1.) Davey Boy Smith won a 20 man battle royal
2.) WWF Intercontinental Champion Jeff Jarrett defeated Ben Jordan
3.) Man Mountain Rock defeated Bob Cook
4.) Owen Hart defeated Gary Scott
Angle Developments/Notes:
1. All twenty men involved in the battle royal are in the ring at the same time. Shawn Michaels runs away from the British Bulldog in the match and eliminates himself after about ten seconds. So, the biggest star in the match is already out of it. The rest of the guys are Bulldog and a bunch of midcarders. As battle royals typically are, this one features a lot of punching and attempts of dumping guys over the top. Mabel had a strong showing in the match getting highlighted a few times eliminating some guys. Of course, Mabel gets eliminated by King Kong Bundy, who in turn gets eliminated by Bulldog and Holly due to taunting Mabel. Lawler gets punched to the floor but only one foot hits the floor. He hops around ringside until Bret Hart comes out and smiles at Lawler. King hops away but Bret follows him. Bret stomps on King’s foot and that causes Lawler’s other foot to hit the floor and gets eliminated. The final two are Bulldog and Eli Blu. Feel free to jump to conclusions here as Bulldog hits a running power slam. Bulldog tries to eliminate Blu but Shawn Michaels comes back out to cheap shot Bulldog. Eli misses a running attack and flies over the top to the floor to give Bulldog the win. (NR. Battle royals are always not interesting and don’t consist of anything memorable. The Bret Hart involvement was humorous, but aside from that, the match lost a lot of interest once HBK eliminated himself.)
2. That’s the only major segment on the show as the other three matches were just squash matches.
Final Thoughts:
A rather boring episode this week, but a lot of guys got some TV time. Bulldog winning the battle royal gives him some heat back since losing the Rumble. But, aside from that nothing happened this week.
Thanks for reading.
