Date:
6/17/1995
From: Wheeling, WV

Matches:
1.) Henry Godwin fought Bret Hart to a double count-out.
2.) Jacob & Eli Blu defeated John Smith & Gus Kantarakis
3.) Man Mountain Rock defeated Kenny Kendal
4.) WWF Intercontinental Champion Jeff Jarrett defeated John Syznowski
5.) Jean Pierre Laffiette defeated Reginald Walker
6.) Savio Vega defeated Bob Cook

Angle Developments/Notes:
1. We see a video of Jerry Lawler training for his match with Bret Hart. Lawler is putting his feet in horse crap for Bret at King of the Ring. That is disgusting.

2. Godwin starts off the bout taking Hart down to the mat and shoves the Hitman. Hart hammers away on Henry in the corner and dropkicks Godwin. Bret hammers away on Henry after ducking a clothesline. Henry counters a hip toss with a short arm clothesline. Godwin sends Hart to the floor, but Hart gets a sunset flip from the apron for a two count. Godwin drops the Hitman throat first across the top rope for a near fall. Henry scoop slams Hart and follows up with an elbow drop for a near fall. Hart is sent hard into the corner and Henry stomps on Hart’s back. Bret hits a sunset flip but Henry kicks out again. Godwin misses a knee drop off the middle rope. Hitman hits a running bulldog but can’t get a three on the cover attempt. Hart gets another near fall after a side Russian leg sweep. Hart continues his routine with a back breaker and a middle rope forearm drop for another near fall. Hitman head butts Henry in the lower midsection. Jerry Lawler makes his way out with his foot exposed. Hart slides to the floor and chases after Lawler. Hart drags Lawler from under the ring but is met with a clothesline from Godwin! Hart sends Godwin into the ring post and chases after Lawler again. This ends in a double count-out. (**. A standard match here with Godwin actually looking like a threat to Bret. A fine angle advancement between Lawler and Hart as well.)

3. Backstage, Bret Hart says that he and Henry are not settled and they will wrestle again. He will meet Lawler at King of the Ring.

4. Vince McMahon sat down and talked to WWF World Champion Diesel and Bam-Bam Bigelow regarding the King of the Ring pay per view. Diesel admits the injury set them back a little bit. He thinks that Bigelow knows Tatanka’s weaknesses and he knows Sid’s. The champ has played with injury before but he will be at KOTR. He has not gotten clearance from doctors to compete at the event. Bigelow thinks that an injured Diesel is still at the same level as Tatanka or Sid at 100%. Bigelow believes they will come out on top if they stick to their game plan.

5. A vignette promoting the debut of Waylon Mercy is aired. Mercy is sitting on the rocks by the water. Mercy has a worm crawling on his arm. He doesn’t like worms crawling on him and he doesn’t like wrestlers touching him. Mercy says they will get squashed just like the worm and he proceeds to slap the worm.

Final Thoughts:
A decent show this week. The feature match was alright and the promo by Bigelow and Diesel wasn’t awful. Mercy is a creepy character that is kind of interesting to see play out on television.

Thanks for reading.
