World Wrestling Federation presents Superstars
Date: 7/15/1995
From: Bethlehem, PA
Matches:
1.) Man Mountain Rock defeated The Black Phantom
2.) WWF World Tag Team Champions Owen Hart & Yokozuna defeated Mike Khoury & John Crystal
3.) Hunter Hearst Helmsley defeated Duke Droese
4.) Aldo Montoya defeated Tony DeVito
5.) Waylon Mercy defeated Jerry Flynn
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) The Allied Powers cut a promo during Owen and Yokozuna’s match. Luger says the moment of truth is only one week away. British Bulldog says they have two goals and that is to slam Yokozuna and win the WWF World Tag Team Championships.
2.) Hunter and Droese lockup and Hunter is disgusted by the smell of the garbage man. Hunter stalls on the outside but Duke comes out and follows Hunter. Duke punches Hunter and tosses him back into the ring. Hunter decks Droese and gets control with several strikes. Droese avoids a backdrop but soon gets dropped throat first across the top rope. Hunter continues his offense with a snap suplex for a near fall. Hunter drives Droese down with a back breaker. Droese breaks a headlock with a jaw breaker and begins to fight back with a knee lift. Duke gets Hunter down with a sunset flip after Hunter tried hard to avoid it. Duke delivers an atomic drop but they collide heads. Droese hits a snap power slam and a backdrop. Droese plants Hunter with a spine buster for a near fall. Hunter counters a backdrop attempt and hits the Pedigree to maintain his undefeated streak. (*. Droese had a few bright spots, but it’s an incredibly basic match. I’d imagine due to the lack of experience that Droese has. Hunter is clearly getting built up as a big deal.)
3.) This week, Jerry Lawler is at the dentist office with Isaac Yankeem D.D.S who is working on a patient. Lawler says he can see Yankeem manhandling Bret Hart in the squared circle. The patient says she likes Bret Hart and that pisses Yankeem off to drill her mouth some more.
Final Thoughts:
Lack of angle development and a poor feature match just makes this an hour of filler. Superstars seems to be losing importance as the weeks go by. Probably when Nitro comes around in a couple of months the focus will be even more towards RAW.
Thanks for reading.
