World Wrestling Federation presents Superstars
Date: 8/5/1995
From: Evansville, IN
Matches:
1.) WWF Intercontinental Champion Shawn Michaels defeated Skip in a non-title match
2.) Jean Pierre Lafitte defeated David Haskins
3.) Bam-Bam Bigelow defeated AC Conner
4.) Lex Luger & Davey Boy Smith defeated The War Machines
5.) Henry Godwinn defeated Jerry Flynn
6.) Kama defeated Scott Taylor
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Skip attacks Michaels from behind as Sunny provided a distraction. Skip backdrops Michaels and hits a clothesline in the corner. Skip places Michaels on the top rope but gets slammed off and Michaels hits a double axe handle for a two count. Skip tries to send Michaels over the top but that doesn’t work. Michaels drops Skip with a few right hands. Michaels misses a spear and hits the ring post shoulder first allowing Skip to maintain control with a snap suplex. Skip leaps off the middle rope with a leg drop but only gets a near fall. Skip clotheslines Michaels after a rollup attempt by Michaels. Michaels backdrops Skip over the top to the floor and Sunny is concerned for her man. Shawn gets on the microphone and says that Skip is a crybaby. Barry Horowitz comes down to ringside and distracts Skip. Michaels nails Skip with a leaping forearm strike. Skip avoids a rollup but turns around and is met with a super kick to give Michaels the win. (**. A decent match that saw Skip hold his own for a little while, at least. These two would have likely had some great matches if Skip was presented in a serious way.) After the match, Sunny enters the ring and she appears to be smitten by Michaels. Shawn acts like he is going to kiss Sunny but turns his head away and Sunny gets upset.
2.) The Report Card with Dean Douglas is up next. Douglas is going to grade WWF Intercontinental Champion Shawn Michaels. Douglas gives us the definition of charisma and gives Michaels a grade of an F- and ends the class on that note.
3.) Gorilla Monsoon, the new interim WWF President, lets us know that he is making changes to SummerSlam. Monsoon says that Sid shouldn’t be the number one contender to the WWF Intercontinental Championship. So, instead we will get a ladder match between Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon.
4.) Dox Hendrix interviews King Mabel in the ring regarding his upcoming title match against WWF World Champion Diesel at SummerSlam. Mabel says he is the king of the New Generation and he rules the WWF with an iron fist. Mo will be wrestling Diesel on RAW. Mabel says this is all part of the royal plan. Mabel asks Hendrix if he thinks Mabel can power bomb him. Hendrix doesn’t think Diesel can but believes that Mabel can hit a belly to belly suplex on Diesel. If you want to find out more then tune into RAW.
5.) Razor Ramon shares his thoughts during the Kama match about the ladder match announcement. Ramon feels great about getting a title match.
Final Thoughts:
You can already tell the Dean Douglas character isn’t going to connect with fans. It’s a fine episode with a quick Michaels/Skip match. The ladder match is going to be the best option instead of Michaels/Sid.
Thanks for reading.
