Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Owen and Bulldog start the tag match with Owen hammering away on Bulldog for the early advantage. Bulldog catapults Owen with a monkey flip followed by arm drags. Owen quickly tags out to Backlund. Bulldog continues with arm drags and a scoop slam. Bulldog almost pins Backlund with a backslide. Backlund delivers a forearm, but Bulldog counters a suplex with a snap suplex of his own. Owen tags in and Bret is tagged causing Owen to try and escape. Bret headbutts Owen followed by right hands and Bret knocks Backlund off the apron. Bret atomic drops Owen and comes off the ropes with a clothesline. Backlund enters and is punched to the mat, too. Bret sends Owen back first into the corner. Bret drops Owen with a headbutt and yanks Owen to the mat by his hair. Bret tries for a backbreaker, but Owen stops Bret with an eye rake to get control. Backlund tags in and tries for the chicken wing, but Bret delivers an atomic drop. Bret tries for the Sharpshooter and has the hold locked in. However, Owen enters to break the hold as we go to commercial.
Owen tags into the match and stomps on Bret in the corner. Backluind pulls Bret to the apron and slams Bret’s left knee over the apron. Owen kicks Bret’s left knee over the middle rope. Owen tags in Backlund and they continue to work over Bret’s left leg. Bret nearly pins Owen with an inside cradle. Backlund tags into the match and Bret is double teamed briefly. Owen continues to stomp on Bret in the corner and sends Bret hard back first into the corner. Owen takes Bret down to the mat with a dragon screw leg whip. Owen puts a Stretch Muffler on Bret, but Bret tags in Bulldog. However, Backlund had distracted the referee. We go to another commercial.
Owen locks in a figure four leg lock in the middle of the ring. Bret rolls over to counter, but Backlund kicks Bret. Owen tags in Backlund and they double team Bret on the mat, again. Backlund keeps a spinning toe hold on Bret on the mat. Owen comes off the top rope to splash down onto Bret’s knee. Backlund distracts the referee and pulls Bret back to the corner. Owen accidentally dropkicks Backlund. Bret tags in Bulldog and Bulldog runs over Owen with a few clotheslines. Bulldog press slams Owen but Backlund breaks the cover. Bulldog sends Owen chest first into the corner for a two count. Bulldog rams Backlund and Owen into each other. Owen runs the ropes and collides with Backlund. Bulldog almost wins with an inside cradle. Backlund and Bret brawl on the floor. Bret puts the Sharpshooter on Backlund outside the ring. Bulldog pins Owen following the running powerslam. (**. It’s a fairly slow match, but the heels working over Bret’s knee for the majority of the match wasn’t completely boring. For a lengthy match, it didn’t feel like it took forever to get through. This match exceeded my expectations.)
Final Thoughts:
The show is dedicated to only action and the feature match was mostly average. I’d consider it an entertaining episode for Action Zone.
Thanks for reading.
