Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) This is the first episode of Heat following the Draft. Coach and Raven are on commentary.
2.) Hall tosses his toothpick at Crash and is met with a few dropkicks. Hall misses a clothesline in the corner and Crash almost wins with a rollup. Crash gets another rollup for a two count. Hall catches Crash on a crossbody attempt to hit a fallaway slam. Hall clotheslines Crash in the corner followed by several stomps. Hall puts an abdominal stretch on Crash, but doesn’t get a submission. Hall switches to an STF, but lets go and stomps on Crash again. Crash almost wins with an inside cradle and Hall decks Crash with a clothesline for a two count. Hall drops Crash with a discus right hand. Hall plants Crash with a chokeslam for a near fall. Hall sits Crash on the top rope hitting a back suplex. Hall signals for the Outsiders Edge and hits it. Hall covers and wins the match. (*1/2. Crash did the basic hope spots you’d expect. Hall actually looked good here and I thought it was an effective squash match.)
2.) Backstage, Jerry Lawler is with WWF Women’s Champion Jazz. Lawler isn’t happy that Jazz ruined his wet t-shirt contest on RAW. Jazz dismisses the thought that Jacqueline is the toughest women in the WWF and calls her a skank. Jacqueline enters the scene and calls Jazz a skank. Jazz thinks that Jacqueline is jealous and hits her with the title leading to a brawl until officials enter the room to stop the fight.
3.) Dreamer backs Stasiak into a corner and is shoved away by Stasiak. Dreamer gets a head scissors on Stasiak, but Stasiak breaks free quickly. Stasiak works over Dreamer with strikes in the corner. Dreamer fights back with right hands and a back elbow. Stasiak bails to the floor and is met with a dropkick from behind on a baseball slide by Dreamer. Stasiak stomps on Dreamer to keep control of the match. Dreamer hooks Stasiak for a snap suplex. Stasiak sends Dreamer into the corner chest first and delivers a clothesline. Stasiak sends Dreamer into the corner ribs first. Stasiak yanks Dreamer out of the corner and delivers a side slam. Stasiak drives Dreamer down with a backbreaker. Stasiak puts an abdominal stretch on Dreamer and uses the ropes for leverage. The crowd has been chanting “Meat” towards Stasiak a few times. Dreamer hip tosses Stasiak, but Stasiak stops Dreamer with a gut buster for a two count. Stasiak gets out of a rollup and knee lifts Dreamer. Dreamer gets his knees up to block a splash. Dreamer backdrops Stasiak followed by an atomic drop and swinging neckbreaker. Dreamer slingshots Stasiak face first into the bottom turnbuckle. Dreamer connects with a side Russian leg sweep. Dreamer comes off the middle rope missing an elbow drop. Stasiak tries for a reverse DDT, but Dreamer counters with a DDT for a two count. Stasiak runs into a sit out spinebuster by Dreamer for a near fall. Dreamer tries for a piledriver, but Stasiak backdrops out of the move. Stasiak counters the Death Valley Driver with a reverse DDT for the clean win. (*. The crowd was dead for this aside from chanting for “Meat”, which was Stasiak’s previous WWF name.)
4.) Jazz has the early advantage until Jacqueline delivers a few uppercuts and dropkicks Jazz to the floor. Jacqueline almost wins with a rollup and is decked by a clothesline. Jazz lifts Jacqueline with a double chicken wing and drops her to the mat before hitting a leg drop. Jazz tosses Jacqueline with a double under hook suplex a couple of times for a two count. Jazz chops Jacqueline but misses a splash and Jacqueline hits a German suplex followed by a spin kick for a near fall. Jazz bails to the floor and grabs the championship looking to leave. Jacqueline rolls Jazz into the ring to continue the match. The referee prevents Jazz from using the championship and Jacqueline hit a top rope crossbody for a two count. Jazz rolls through a rollup and uses the tights for leverage to win the match. (**. Not a bad match as they did a lot of suplexs and hard hitting offense to hold interest. I enjoyed the match.)
5.) Goldust knocks Show off the apron during his entrance and delivers a few right hands. Show rams Goldust back first into the ring post. Goldust uses the ropes to low blow Show and hammers away on Show in the corner. Show tosses Goldust into the corner and tosses Goldust across the ring. Goldust boots Show charging in the corner and jumps onto Show’s back with a sleeper hold. Show drops down to a knee as Goldust keeps a sleeper on. Show powers out with a side slam and a headbutt. Show clotheslines Goldust in the corner and hits the chokeslam to win the match. (1/2*. That was basically just a squash for Big Show. Show showed some fire and the crowd popped for his win.)
Final Thoughts:
An average episode this week for Heat as we had some name power and a decent women’s match. I’m interested to see who will be regulars on Heat following the Draft. I’m hoping that Heat will have some storylines attached to it, as well.
Thanks for reading.
