2.) Hunter Hearst Helmsley defeated Titus Dunning
3.) WWF Intercontinental Champion Razor Ramon & Marty Jannetty defeated Jerry Faith & Jason Ahrndt
4.) Skip defeated Rick Myers
5.) Ahmed Johnson defeated Isaac Yankem DDS by disqualification
Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) WWF Intercontinental Champion Razor Ramon is dressed up like Santa Claus and via a Christmas carol promotes various feuds that are happening for IYH.
2.) Goldust cut a pre-tape promo before his match with Aldo and thinks that Aldo is a far cry from being Zorro. He thinks that Aldo is embarrassed of himself.
3.) Goldust slaps Aldo in the corner and backs away. Goldust tosses Montoya over the top to the floor. Goldust nails Montoya with a running clothesline. Goldust sends Montoya hard into the corner back first a couple of times. Goldust tosses Montoya to the floor a again. Aldo rams Goldust face first onto the apron and hits a slingshot crossbody to the floor. Montoya leaps off the top rope hitting a crossbody for a two count. Montoya clotheslines Goldust and he’s fired up. Goldust drops to his knees to strike Montoya and hits a lifting reverse DDT called the Curtain Call for the win. (*1/2. I liked the quick spirt of offense by Montoya, but yet another clean win for Goldust is only going to help the momentum of Goldust in the WWF.)
4.) Henry Godwinn provided pre-tape comments from his pig farm asking if Helmsley has ever experienced hog heaven, but he will at IYH on December 17th.
5.) Hunter Hearst Helmsley pre-tape comments during his squash match. Helmsley assures Godwinn that he will not be anywhere near the pig pen, but Godwinn will go back to where he belongs.
6.) The Million Dollar Corporation shared pre-tape comments during Ramon and Jannetty’s match. Sid hopes they enjoy themselves because at IYH it will come to an end at the snap of a fingers. Also during the match, McMahon notes that DiBiase has been looking for his own champion and has apparently found the man.
7.) Ahmed Johnson cuts a promo backstage about Isaac Yankem. He tells Yankem to bring it on.
8.) Vince McMahon sat down with Diana Smith and Davey Boy Smith at the Smith house. They have a Christmas tree in the background. McMahon thanks them for having the interview at their house. Diana notes that they could have a nice gift if Davey won the WWF World Championship. McMahon mentions that Davey has defeated Bret Hart before and did so at SummerSlam 1992 to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship. Diana was supporting both men at SummerSlam, but this time around she’s supporting Davey 100%. Davey is wearing the 1992 SummerSlam t-shirt and promises that he’s going to defeat Bret Hart at IYH. McMahon asks what kind of legacy does Davey have if he were to win the championship. Davey believes he’d be the greatest WWF World Champion of all-time. Davey mentions that even beat Bret recently at the Meadowlands, which Vince had to bring up. Diana notes that Bret has never defeated Davey, ever.
9.) Yankem gets in Johnson’s face and delivers a few right hands in the corner for the early advantage. Johnson is sent into the corner and Yankem delivers a clothesline followed by more right hands. Johnson decks Yankem with a clothesline. Johnson nails Yankem with a kick to the face and a powerslam. Johnson misses an elbow drop coming off the ropes. Dean Douglas shares comments during the match saying that Johnson will be someone that can’t make the grade. Yankem yanks Johnson’s arm over the top rope to maintain the advantage. Johnson stops Yankem with an elbow strike. Johnson comes off the ropes with a leaping shoulder block. Johnson plants Yankem with a spinebuster. Johnson hits the Pearl River Plunge, but Jerry Lawler enters the ring and attacks Johnson. After the match, Johnson is double teamed by Lawler and Yankem. Johnson gets up and scares the heels from the ring. (*. I find myself wanting to see Lawler get destroyed by Johnson as I think that would be a lot of fun to see. Johnson is a breath of fresh air on WWF programming.)
10.) Next week, Davey Boy Smith battles Marty Jannetty. Skip and Rad Radford go for the WWF Tag Team Championships held by the Smoking Gunns.
11.) The show ends with Jim Ross asking if the Ultimate Warrior is returning to the WWF?!
Final Thoughts:
It’s an average episode with heavy focus on IYH, which I always appreciate. The Davey Boy interview segment was just awkward and he came across poorly. I’m really most interested in Goldust and Ahmed Johnson largely because they are the newest guys on the roster and aren’t bland characters.
Thanks for reading.
