Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) Jimmy Hart is backstage with Mean Gene with a contract. Hart is excited for the Nasty Boys to wrestle Ultimate Warrior and WWF World Champion Randy Savage.
2.) Vince McMahon, Jim Duggan, Mr. Perfect and Bobby Heenan are on the panel. Duggan is concerned about how well Warrior and Savage will work together so close to SummerSlam. Bobby Heenan cheers to Jimmy Hart for setting up the match for the Nasty Boys. Vince McMahon smells a rat and wonders if Heenan and Perfect are in on this with Jimmy Hart.
3.) Rick Martel is wearing Tatanka’s feathers to taunt his longtime rival.

Martel knocks Powers to the mat and maintains front face lock control. Powers ducks a clothesline to nail Martel with a clothesline. Powers keeps arm control on the mat and elbows Martel over the shoulder. Powers runs the ropes and backslides Martel for a two count. Powers arm drags Martel to the mat and keeps arm control again. Powers wrenches Martel on the arm, but Martel knee lifts Powers in the corner. Martel knee strikes Powers and knocks Powers to the mat. Martel keeps control on the mat with a sleeper. Martel scoop slams Powers and keeps control with a chin lock. Martel rams Powers into the corner, but runs into an elbow. Powers fights back with a few right hands and an atomic drop. Powers clotheslines Martel and is fired up. Powers strikes Martel in the midsection followed by a knee lift. Powers dropkicks Martel coming off the ropes. Powers kicks Martel into the corner and tries for a monkey flip, but Martel holds onto the ropes. Martel takes advantage locking in the Boston Crab and wins the match. (*1/2. Nothing too crazy going on here, just some momentum building for Martel.)
5.) Sgt. Slaughter has arrived to the building to join the panel. Heenan stands up to salute Slaughter out of fear and Perfect remains seated, but is a bit standoffish.
6.) The Samoans are brought to the ring by Afa. They are Fatu and Samu, and they’d be known as the Headshrinkers. A great addition to the tag team division. Fatu hit a top rope splash to pickup the win for the team.
7.) The panel discuss the development between Rick Martel and Shawn Michaels where there will be no punches to the face. Heenan likes the idea, but Duggan says it’s wrestling and punches are suppose to happen. Heenan downplays the wink and McMahon notes that the no punches to the face was introduced by Sherri.
8.) Harvey Wippleman shares some comments via satellite. Wippleman discusses Kamala’s match with the Undertaker at SummerSlam. Wippleman says that they will see the first cannibalistic act when Kamala battles the Undertaker at SummerSlam. We see footage of a recent interaction between Undertaker and Kamala. Kamala is held back and isn’t showing any fear as he’s escorted backstage.
9.) Knobbs and Ware kickoff the six man tag with Knobbs working over Ware in the corner with strikes. Sags gets a cheap shot from the apron. Knobbs sends Ware into the corner, but misses a splash. Ware nails Knobbs with his backside and Repo tags in, but is met with a drop toe hold. Santana tags into the match and controls Repo with a wrist lock. Repo sunset flips Santana, but Santana holds on and punches Repo on the mat. Owen heads to the top delivering an axe handle. Repo stops Owen with an eye rake and tags in Sags. Sags rams Owen into the corner and taunts the fans. Sags pummels Owen with right hands, but Owen fights back with punches. Owen hits a hip toss on Sags, but Knobbs pulls down the ropes to send Owen crashing to the floor. Knobbs axe handles Owen on the floor and rams Owen into the apron back first. Sags spits on Owen on the floor. Sags side slams Owen and covers for a two count. Repo axe handles Owen over the back and chokes Owen over the ropes. Knobbs chokes Owen while the referee is distracted. Sags connects with a leg drop to maintain the advantage. Knobbs elbow drops Owen for a two count. Knobbs backdrops Owen coming off the ropes. Owen sends Knobbs into Sags armpit for Pity City. Repo tags into the match, but Owen strikes Repo. Repo drop toe holds Owen to keep the advantage on the mat with a chin lock. Owen ducks a clothesline by Sags and delivers a kick off the ropes. Knobbs tags in and elbow drops POwen to prevent the tag. Knobbs forearms Owen into the corner and tags in Repo. Repo strikes Owen in the ribs before ramming Owen into the corner. Repo strikes Owen a few times. Repo sends Owen into the corner, but misses a charging attack and hits the corner chest first. Santana gets the hot tag and punches Sags followed by a scoop slam. Santana comes off the ropes with a dropkick and a flying forearm for a two count. All six men get in the ring to start brawling. The referee has lost control. The heels are sent into each other. Santana nails Sags with another flying forearm, but Knobbs gets involved to break the cover. Repo hands Knobbs the tow rope, but Santana fights free with a backdrop. The referee has thrown the match out due to the tow rope usage. (*1/2. I enjoyed Santana in the match as his offense came across well. The heels didn’t do anything too interesting throughout the match. It felt like the babyfaces were suppose to shine here and High Energy didn’t get much of an opportunity to showcase their skills. If Santana had a better gimmick he’d probably deserve another push.)
10.) The panel discusses the upcoming tag match between the Nasty Boys and the unlikely team of WWF World Champion Randy Savage and Ultimate Warrior.
Final Thoughts:
I like the idea of having Savage and Warrior team up against a team like the Nasty Boys. I probably would have had the Nasty Boys win a substantial match leading into such an encounter because they don’t have a lot of steam. They did a good job promoting the special and I’m looking forward to seeing more from the Samoans (Headshrinkers).
Thanks for reading.
