1. IRS shares some thoughts during 1-2-3 Kid’s match this week. He says that Kid has been really lucky but his luck will run out at SummerSlam.
2. Virgil showcases his foot speed by tap dancing or something in the ring. Borga casually tosses Virgil to the canvas like it was no big deal. Virgil tries his luck with some jabs but Borga knocks him out with a big right hand. Virgil continues with jabs after a few back elbows. Virgil hits a few lackluster dropkicks and goes to the top rope. Borga catches him and slams him down. Borga wins following a leaping clothesline.
3. Mean Gene conducted an in-ring interview with WWF World Champion Yokozuna, Jim Cornette and Mr. Fuji. Cornette discredits the call to action campaign by Luger. Cornette puts Yoko’s people over as being honorable while Luger isn’t. Cornette mentions the guys Yokozuna has destroyed everyone he has met in recent memory. Cornette is confident that Luger will not be able to end Yokozuna’s reign. Randy Savage decides to run down to the ringside area to a big ovation. Savage puts over Lex Luger big time. Savage believes that Luger will be winning the championship at SummerSlam. Oh, yeah! The babyface roster come out through the crowd and to the ringside area to support Luger.
The basic hype up for SummerSlam continues and thankfully this is the last stop before the show. I’m liking Borga and his character. Sure, it’s the usual anti-America gimmick but he puts it over well. The ending segment made it look like it was win the championship or bust for Luger. They put a lot on him to win the championship and well, we know how that ends up. This episode was just average for me.
Thanks for reading.
