World Wrestling Federation presents Superstars
Date: 5/21/1994
From: Albany, NY
Matches:
1.)Razor Ramon defeated Derek Domino
2.)Crush defeated Mike Terrance
3.)Duke Droese defeated Mike Bell
4.)WWF World Tag Team Champions The Headshrinkers defeated Jim Massenger & Raymond Roy
5.)Jeff Jarrett defeated Lex Luger by count-out to qualify for the 1994 King of the Ring Tournament
Angle Developments/Notes:
1. Crush cut a promo prior to his match and says that Lex Luger is going to have to find a way to survive in the ring with him during the WrestleMania X Revenge Tour. Crush believes that Luger will be saluting the Japanese flag.
2. Duke Droese made his debut on this edition of Superstars. Jerry Lawler is standing by the entrance during Droese’s entrance. Lawler wants to have a few words with Droese. Lawler plugs his nose because of the smell. So, Droese dumps some trash on Lawler! Duke won his squash match with a sloppy swinging side slam.
3. Mr. Fuji is managing Jeff Jarrett for his match against Lex Luger. Luger backs Jarrett into a corner and they trade shoves with Luger getting the better of the exchange. Lex shoulder blocks Jarrett to keep control of the contest. Luger is rammed head first into the corner and Jarrett drives his shoulder into Luger’s midsection. Lex hip tosses Jarrett out of the corner and nearly wins with a cross body. Vince just referred to Luger as being “cat like quick.” Jarrett works over Lex’s shoulder with a few strikes. Luger battles back with a gorilla press slam. Luger runs Jarrett over with a couple of clotheslines. Fuji hits Luger with the flag over Lex’s back! That allows Jarrett to work over Luger with stomps. Luger rolls Jarrett up out of the corner but can’t keep him down for a three count. Jarrett leaps off the middle rope to double axe handle Luger’s lower back. Jarrett drops Lex with a middle rope clothesline but only gets a two count as Lex powers out of the pin attempt. Jarrett dumps Luger to the floor and looks to come off the top, but the referee is distracted and Crush comes out to ram Luger into the ring steps. Luger is counted out as the referee counts really fast. Luger runs up the ramp and brawls with Crush! Jarrett has won and is going to the King of the Ring! (*1/2. It wasn’t awful as Jarrett did a few decent spots to make the match not a total bust, but considering Luger is limited in the ring it was sub-par to me.)
4. The 1-2-3 Kid comes out to be interviewed. He wrestles Adam Bomb next week. Kid says it would be a true dream come true if he could make the King of the Ring. He is such a clean cut babyface it’s kind of sickening. Lawler shows Kid footage of what Adam Bomb can do. Kid is confident that he can beat Adam with his speed.
Final Thoughts:
An average episode for Superstars this week. It looks like they are going to feud Duke Droese with Jerry Lawler, which is probably a good idea since Lawler is a good heel and having a new babyface beat Lawler can only do good things for Droese. Luger/Crush is a very good under card feud in my opinion as well.
Thanks for reading.
