So, these two had two matches on the same weekend. I thought this was going to be the same as their WCW Pro encounter, but it is in fact a different match. I preferred their Pro match a little bit more. It feels like they’re not letting Smothers shine in any way as his offense was not compelling here at all.)
6.) WCW Magazine hosted by Eric Bischoff is next. Bischoff talks about Nikita Koloff refusing the Dangerous Alliance offer and is going after WCW United States Champion Rick Rude. Footage from WCW Worldwide is shown where Koloff tosses Madusa to the mat and brawled with Rick Rude, which the crowd went nuts for. The locker room empties to break them up. Bischoff talks about the Steiner Brothers losing to Terry Gordy and Steve Williams at the Clash of the Champions on June 22nd. We see footage of the encounter. Gordy chop blocked Scott on a suplex attempt allowing Williams to pin Scott. Steiner’s will defend their tag titles against Gordy and Williams whenever they want them. We proceed to get a card rundown for Great American Bash on July 12th.
7.) Missy Does The Mail hosted by Missy Hyatt is up next. We get a message from Paul E. Dangerously and Bobby Eaton. Dangerously talks about Zbyszko screwing up in Chicago and Zbyszko was suppose to help the other members if they were in trouble. Dangerously is livid about Zbyszko screwing up and causing Eaton to submit at the War Games. Dangerously says they are like the mafia that nobody quits or leaves. Dangerously promises it will be the legends last hoorah.
8.) Garvin and Bagwell kickoff the main event. Bagwell gets a headlock on Garvin, but Garvin takes Bagwell down to the mat and they have a standoff. Hayes elbows Bagwell and Garvin returns to the match. Garvin runs the ropes and shoulder blocks Bagwell. Hayes and Zenk tag in with Zenk nailing Hayes with a superkick and a scoop slam. Zenk heads to the top rope hitting a missile dropkick. Zenk covers, but Hayes gets his boot on the ropes and the match ends in a draw. Both teams are stopped by the referee and the match ends in a draw. (**. The draw finish is a bit lame, but the action was okay for what it was. There may have been a few too many rest holds, but I’ve seen guys use their time far more poorly than this.)
Final Thoughts:
Probably a skippable episode this week with the action being a little disappointing. The Rude/Koloff segment from Worldwide was the best segment on the show.
Thanks for reading.
