WWF Superstars 8/7/1993

Written by: Bob Colling

World Wrestling Federation presents Superstars
Date:
8/7/1993
From: Wilkes-Barre, PA

Matches:
1.)The Smoking Gunns defeated Well Dunn
2.)Adam Bomb defeated Chaz Ware
3.)Doink the Clown defeated Joey Maggs
4.)Tito Santana defeated Barry Hardy
5.)Bastion Booger defeated Mike Bell

Angle Developments/Notes:

1. This marks the debut of the tag team Well Dunn. It’s Timothy Well and Steven Dunn. Well and Billy kick off the match. Well is arm dragged and hip tossed early on by Billy. Bart and Dunn enter with Dunn delivering a few right hands but is clotheslined by Bart rather quickly. Bart scoop slams Dunn a few times but Well attacks Bart from behind and slams him down to the mat. Bart is being double teamed as Billy distracts the referee. Well Dunn hit a double vertical suplex for a near fall on Bart. They also hit a running bulldog for a near fall. Well gets a two count after a belly to belly suplex. Bart and Dunn collide in the ring on cross body attempts. Billy gets the hot tag and cleans house with backdrops but Dunn drives him down with a back suplex. Billy backdrops Dunn into Bart who hits a piledriver for the win! (**1/4. A decent little tag team match here. Well Dunn put forth some solid offense here. I’ve never understood having a team make their debut and lose. It seems like it just hurts them from the get go. Oh well.)

2. Gorilla Monsoon hosts the WWF Update this week. He is talking about Razor Ramon and his loses to the 1-2-3 Kid. Ted DiBiase offered Ramon a job as a maid, and it basically turned Ramon into a good guy. We see footage from Wrestling Challenge last week. DiBiase wrestled the Kid when Razor Ramon came out to distract DiBiase. DiBiase sent for a cocky cover but Kid ended up reversing it and pinned DiBiase!

3. A hype video for the Lex Express was aired. Also, a video promoting Ludvig Borga and his hatred for the United States was also shown.

4. This marked the last televised match for Tito Santana in the WWF.

5. Vince, Lawler and Savage are talking about SummerSlam as the show is close to coming to an end. Lawler will be wrestling Macho Man at Madison Square Garden on August 13th! Naturally, they begin to have a war of words. Lawler ends up slapping Savage!

Final Thoughts:
An average episode of Superstars this week. The featured match was okay, but there wasn’t any new developments going on here. Nothing really to see here, folks.

Thanks for reading.
