World Wrestling Federation presents Prime Time Wrestling
Date:
5/4/1992
From: Various Locations

Matches: (original matches)
1.) Owen Hart & Koko B. Ware defeated Kato & Barry Horowitz

Angle Developments/Notes:
1.) There are several ‘feature matches’, but they are reruns from either the syndication shows or televised MSG shows from many months ago. Thus, I’m not including them on the show.

2.) Vince McMahon, Hillbilly Jim, Bobby Heenan, Mr. Perfect and Jim Duggan are on the panel this week. McMahon brings up the issue between the Undertaker and the Berzerker. Duggan puts over Undertaker as a guy who can’t be hurt.

3.) Owen and Kato kickoff the tag match with Kato getting arm control on the mat. Kato yanks Owen down to the mat by his hair, but Owen kips up on the pin attempt. Owen head scissors Kato to gain control of the match. Kato rolls over and they bridge up out of a cover. Owen backslides Kato, but Kato recovers and rams Owen into the corner followed by a few strikes. Kato tries to monkey flip Owen out of the corner, but Owen lands on his feet and nails Kato with a kick to the side of the head. Koko tags in and they hit a double clothesline. Koko decks Horowitz off the apron. Kato throat thrusts Koko and tags in Horowitz, but Koko arm drags Horowitz and plays to the crowd. Horowitz misses a strike in the corner and Koko hits an arm drag followed by a dropkick. Koko taunts Horowitz with a bird taunt in the corner. Horowitz eye rakes Koko followed by a knee lift and decks Koko with a right hand. Koko big boots Horowitz in the corner and Owen tags in to hit a double backdrop. Owen yanks Horowitz to the mat by his feet and delivers an elbow drop. Owen chops Horowitz and they do a test of strength. Horowitz keeps control in the test of strength, but Owen breaks free with a boot and hits a hip toss and an arm drag. Koko returns to the match and delivers a clothesline. Koko stomps on Horowitz groin and continues to taunt Horowitz. Kato tags back into the match and shoulder rams Koko into the corner and delivers a few strikes. Kato savant kicks Koko, but Koko hits a facebuster and tags in Owen. Owen hits a belly to belly suplex for a two count on Kato. All four men are in the ring until Horowitz and Kato are sent into each other. Koko and Owen go to opposite corners to hit stereo dropkicks and Owen pins Kato for the win. (**. This was just an extended squash for the new tag team. Koko isn’t matching with Owen yet, so I’m wondering if this was a feeler to see how the team came across. I think High Energy could be a fun high action duo compared to the other teams that are much more mat and brawler based in the division.)

4.) WWF Update with Mean Gene focuses on the Superstars segment between The Undertaker and Berzerker from last week. Fuji and Berzerker cut a promo with Berzerker saying that he proved that the Undertaker is human and next time he’s not going to take it easy on Undertaker. We also hear from Paul Bearer and the Undertaker. Bearer says they tried to steal the urn and stab Undertaker with a sword. Taker chimes in and says when they knocked on the door did they expect the reaper to be there.

5.) The panel discusses Rick Martel blinding Tatanka on Superstars, which Heenan thinks it was an accident. Duggan thinks Heenan takes sight for granted. Heenan cracks some jokes about sight and Duggan is pissed.

6.) The panel talks about the upcoming matches between WWF Intercontinental Champion Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels. Perfect agrees that Michaels is close to being perfect and thinks Michaels is the wrestler of the 90s. Perfect is confident that Michaels will be the next champion. Heenan has a note regarding WWF World Champion Randy Savage that he’ll reveal later.

7.) Mean Gene conducts a podium interview with WWF World Champion Randy Savage. Gene talks about Savage winning the title from Flair at WrestleMania and regaining the honor of Miss Elizabeth. Gene says that some said the rules were bended to win the title. Savage thinks Gene is joking and says he had to do what he did because Flair would have done it to him. Savage dismisses the notion that he stole the title. Savage is pissed that Flair stole a kiss from Elizabeth after their match. Savage warns Flair that he got the kiss of death. Savage says it’s the first time the champion is challenging the challenger. Savage tells Flair that dropping the title will not compare to being dropped by him, the WWF World Champion.

8.) The panel discuss Randy Savage and Heenan says that Savage is jealous. Heenan’s letter is from a fan where they saw Elizabeth getting out of Flair’s limo during a European tour. McMahon doesn’t believe the letter is real. McMahon reads the letter and it says that the fans saw Elizabeth and Flair having drinks and Elizabeth feeding Flair strawberries. Perfect claims that Elizabeth was asking for the kiss since he was at ringside for the match. Jim Duggan defends Savage and McMahon has to calm him down. Duggan bites on a pencil to control his anger.

9.) The panel talk about the Ultimate Warrior where Hillbilly and Duggan claim that Warrior is ready to roll. They also talk about Flair and Heenan says they are class while there is no comparison with a guy like Duggan.

10.) The panel talks about Papa Shango. Heenan believes that there’s something with voodoo. Hillbilly is ready for Heenan to get a curse on him and leave the WWF. Perfect calls Duggan a pinhead. Heenan says that Shango scares him to death with his chanting and thinks Shango has weird thoughts in his head. Hillbilly shows off some of his magic by having flowers appear in a pan.

Final Thoughts:
I thought it was a decent show overall. The live events should be good at this time if the main matches appear to be led by Savage/Flair and Hart/Michaels. They touched on some feuds and there’s more of a purpose for the Tatanka/Martel feud now with the blinding angle. We’re still in the slow build stages, but at least we’re getting some advancements.
